System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Albarino orbits towards the outer edge of its star's habitable zone.

Chart Orbit HZ- Region Detailed.png

It has a fast rotation period: one local day is equivalent to 0.5 standard days (12.2 standard hours).

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Albarino is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Albarino has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Albarino has 25-35% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants will be recycled.

  • The world's seas are crusted with pack ice.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

The world has polar ice caps, two large seas, and multiple lakes and rivers. Much of the surface is covered in rugged mountainous terrain. The equatorial desert regions consist of remarkably pure, very fine sand (silicon dioxide). It is a band of brilliant white when viewed from orbit.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Primitive native life occupying a number of ecological niches. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Albarino is a member of the Wovoka Arch, a minor cluster and trade route lying in the coreward-trailing quadrant of Aldebaran Sector. It is named for its distinctive curved shape on astrographic charts.

Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Solomani State and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, while many see it as an act of duty to help protect the the State and its interests.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Albarino has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

The highport is of excellent Solomani quality and has considerable excess capacity, even with frequent heavy lift craft delivering cargo to and from the surface. The dedicated downport and startown are named Promise. They are connected to major urban centers and industrial sites by heavy-duty rail systems.

World Population (P)[edit]

Albarino has a population of 50,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

  • The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.

Urbanization[edit]

Albarino cities are generally located in the hilly regions around the plain that contains the downport and the dedicated startown, Promise. These cities are close to water supplies and various mining operations. Local industry focuses on chemical engineering and material science. The relatively high technological level of this world ensures that society remains comfortable and civilized.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly heard languages are:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Albarino possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Albarino has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

World Military[edit]

Each nation-state has its own security forces, but all are purely defensive in nature and are not equipped to seize and hold territory.

World Law (L)[edit]

Albarino has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Trade Data[edit]

World Economy[edit]

Limited mining of local ores. Metal ores and ingots, phosphorus compounds, fertilizers.
