Lanth Subsector is Subsector G of the Spinward Marches.
- It is part of the Imperial Domain of Deneb.
Physical Astrography
Lanth Subsector is a typical rift province, with the majority of its worlds situated in a trailing crescent around an underpopulated section of the spiral arm. Its major communications route crosses the rift and provides the only link with the Regina, Vilis, and Jewell Subsectors.
Astrographic Features
The following astrographic data has been determined regarding Lanth Subsector:
- The subsector is a slightly below average stellar density region.
- The brightest star is the red giant primary of the Keanou system.
- It contains the Abyss Rift, a region of lower stellar density.
- The Spinward Main runs along its coreward and trailing edges.
Stellar Distribution
A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Lanth Subsector.
- The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
- The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.
(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)
Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.
- Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
- Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.
Rifts
One rift region lies within the subsector:

Trade Routes
The Spinward Main
The Spinward Main is the arterial trade route within the Spinward Marches.
High cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels laden with goods, commodities, and luxuries move along it, bound for the thriving markets of its member worlds.

- Worlds on the Spinward Main are marked in green.
Local Routes
The Spinward Main runs along the coreward and trailing edges of the subsector.

Politics and Diplomacy : Milieu 1116
The Lanth Subsector is defended by 18th Fleet. This fleet, and detachments from sector fleet are based within or on the edge of the rift at Ivendo (which serves as fleet headquarters), D'Ganzio, Lanth and Ghandi. The main task of the 18th Fleet is protection of commerce on the Spinward Main.
The rift area is known as the Abyss Rift and has a reputation of strange events occurring. The Rift means that most commercial traffic is required to use the Spinward Main, however, X-Boats and Imperial Navy patrols can quickly pass the subsector. Jump drive rated J3 or better is required to navigate through the rift.
The Unified Army of Lanth has only four divisions of lift infantry to call its own. In times of need Lunion and Rhylanor subsectors can provide additional troops.
Summary
Lanth, subsector G of Spinward Marches, contains 27 worlds with an estimated combined population of 1 billion, a per capita income of Cr2,248, and a total economy of BCr2,332. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr59 through 23 starports (1 Class A, 8 Class B, 8 Class C, 6 Class D) employing 13,965 people. Driving this interstellar trade are four Agricultural (Ag) worlds, two Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, one Pre-Agricultural (Pa) world, two Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Lanth maintain seven Naval bases and five Scout bases. The average technology level is 7 (with most between 4 and 10). The highest technology level is 13 at D'Ganzio (Spinward Marches 1920).
Lanth, subsector G of Spinward Marches, contains 37 stars and 274 identified planets; 17 monostellar systems, ten binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 22 of the 27 systems (81%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, one Desert (De) world, no Garden (Ga) worlds, one Ice-capped (Ic) world, four Poor (Po) worlds, two Vacuum (Va) worlds, and three Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.
Lanth has an estimated population of 1 billion distributed across no High population (Hi) worlds, three Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 15 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, five Low population (Lo) worlds, and one Barren (Ba) world. The highest population worlds are Treece (Spinward Marches 2311), Equus (Spinward Marches 2417), and Extolay (Spinward Marches 1711). The population consists primarily of 3 sophont groups.
