Ghandi is an icy, nonindustrial world, whose surface is ice-capped and with nearly all of its water frozen.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Lanth Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector in the Domain of Deneb.
- It is a mainworld which is a satellite of either a gas giant or another world.
- This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
- This world has an Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.
- It lies on the edge of the Abyss Rift.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Ghandi is a binary star system.
- The primary is a white main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld. It is a major satellite of Oinikii, the system's inner gas giant.
- x9 secondary rocky worlds, all orbiting the system's distant secondary star.
- x3 gas giants, all orbiting the system's primary star. The innermost is called Oinikii.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Ghandi is the moon of Oinikii, the innermost gas giant orbiting the system's primary star.
- The primary star's family of planets contains no significant rocky worlds, just two additional gas giants and their various small satellites.
- All of the rocky worlds in the system orbit the distant secondary star. Ghandi itself is a frozen wasteland of ice and bare rock, with the occasional dust storm stirred up by the trace nitrogen atmosphere.
Even the gas giant Oinikii filling the sky is nothing much to look at – it is at best a brownish-red ball with darker red swirls.[2]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Ghandi is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Ghandi has a pressure of less than 0.1 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences very low temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Ghandi has 05-15% of its surface covered by ice, either in vast sheets or contained deep within craters or fractures on the surface. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants can be got by mining and melting ice.
- The surface of the world is composed of a crust of ice many kilometers thick.
- Much of the surface is cratered and covered in thick layers of regolith and dust of meteoric origin, leaving only a part of the icy outer shell exposed.
- Below the outer icy shell there may be a world-ocean of liquid water.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, trace atmosphere world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
World Starport (St)[edit]
Ghandi has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- The world is host to a Naval Base.
The naval base hosts elements of the 18th Fleet.
World Population (P)[edit]
Ghandi has a population of 30,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Urbanization[edit]
In addition to the City of Ghandi, the other major settlement is Ambigaze.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Ghandi possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Ghandi is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
World Law (L)[edit]
Ghandi has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
All legal enforcement ultimately ends up with the local (and overworked) Ministry of Justice office.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Ghandi, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world.

- 1107-1110: Fifth Frontier War.
Later Historical Eras[edit]
The original government of Ghandi was replaced by a new naval administration after the relocation of the 88th Fleet. The local populace revolted against this loss of autonomy in 1134, and the navy ever since has been content with leaving the civilian populace unmolested. The startown is heavily patrolled by naval shore police, but they are only empowered with arresting off-duty service personnel.
