String of Pearls Subsector is subsector M of Yiklerzdanzh Sector.

Description / Specifications[edit]

(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)

String of Pearls Subsector is a region of Balkanized Space. Its worlds are fiercely independent.

  • The resources of the subsector are gradually being exploited.

Astrographic Features & Trade Routes[edit]

The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding String of Pearls Subsector:

Stellar Distribution[edit]

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within String of Pearls Subsector, right:

  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

Borealis Group[edit]

The Borealis Group can be seen as a bright, dense, noticeable grouping of stars in the skies to Spinward-rimward.

The Borealis Group contains significant amounts of gas and dust that reflects and refracts the light of the stars, giving it an ethereal glow.

String of Pearls[edit]

The String of Pearls is a profitable jump-2 trade route that crosses the region.

A map of the String of Pearla route is shown, right:

  • Worlds marked in blue lie on the trailing arm.

World Listing[edit]

Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds lying within String of Pearls subsector is available.

  • The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map. However, note that some of this data is incorrect or out of date.
  • World articles may have slightly different data: some elements of the data contained within articles has been updated.
  • Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.

AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:

31 Worlds in the String of Pearls Subsector
Bliazheprvlaf  •  Candlelight  •  Chablzhdia  •  Chaos Fallen  •  Chezh Daznish  •  Chiabenshzdol  •  Chtashekldlanz  •  Denzjdetlizh  •  Didtayinzhial  •  Dliatlirets  •  Dranshiqlbi'  •    •  Fair Deal  •  Fliblshichtia  •  Friaprchivzhdo  •  Jansaze'  •  Jdakrief  •  Klenjzhdont  •  Plafrezhdish  •  Qriensh Jdazh  •  Quicksilver  •  Siezhdaniapl  •  Sitiefladr  •  Tavrniaplcha  •  Viezhzdi' Shtaf  •  Vrontliedl  •  Whahwhiv  •  Zdalzi  •  Zdaplaftliavr  •  Zdemedre  •  Zdoblze  •  Ziedrdazonch  •

Verified updated data is constantly sought.

  • Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The subsector is a frontier region, close to the edge of settled space. To coreward, in Talpaku Subsector, the recently formed S'raak Empire acts as a buffer state between the Talpaku Communality and the Zhodani Consulate. This has freed up Talpaku resources, enabling the Talpaku's expansionist tendencies -- their sights are firmly set on the "empty" central and rimward parts of String of Pearls Subsector. The Communality government sees such expansion, if handled properly, as a way of improving the economy and also of improving the public's perception of their governance. The independent worlds of the region are not likely to yield to Talpaku rule without a fight.

Rumours of lost treasure hoards and private mines on the barren worlds of this subsector have circulated for centuries, supposedly established by smugglers or merchants attempting tax avoidance. Occasionally, a treasure hunter sets up an expedition to seek such a find, but these are usually fruitless. It is a standing joke that at least one person in every starport of the subsector makes a living solely by selling treasure maps.

Subsector Summary[edit]

String of Pearls, subsector M of Yiklerzdanzh, contains 31 worlds with an estimated combined population of 22 billion, a per capita income of Cr3,652, and a total economy of BCr81,384. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr310 through 16 starports (2 Class A, 6 Class B, 4 Class C, 4 Class D) employing 41,675 people. Driving this interstellar trade are four Agricultural (Ag) worlds, three Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in String of Pearls maintain three Military bases and one Clan base. The average technology level is 5 (with most between 0 and 10). The highest technology level is 14 at Plafrezhdish (Yiklerzdanzh 0138) and Bliazheprvlaf (Yiklerzdanzh 0435).

String of Pearls, subsector M of Yiklerzdanzh contains 37 stars; 26 monostellar systems, four binary systems, one trinary system, and no systems with four or more stars. 26 of the 31 systems (83%) have native gas giants. There are two Asteroid (As) belts, two Desert (De) worlds, no Garden (Ga) worlds, two Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, six Poor (Po) worlds, three Vacuum (Va) worlds, and one Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) world.

String of Pearls has an estimated population of 22 billion distributed across three High population (Hi) worlds, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 12 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, eight Low population (Lo) worlds, and 11 Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Zdalzi (Yiklerzdanzh 0237), Chaos Fallen (Yiklerzdanzh 0631), and Sitiefladr (Yiklerzdanzh 0638). The population consists of several sophont groups including Humaniti and Zdalzi.

1 identified sophont populations in String of Pearls

Non-Aligned, Human-dominated[edit]

There are 27 Non-Aligned Human-dominated worlds in String of Pearls with an estimated population of 15 billion.

Talpaku Communality[edit]

The Talpaku Communality has jurisdiction over three worlds in the subsector with an estimated combined population of 7 billion, a per capita income of Cr6,501, and a total economy of BCr46,033. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr163 through 3 starports (1 Class A, 1 Class B, 1 Class C, 0 Class D) employing 22,590 people. Driving this interstellar trade are no Agricultural (Ag) worlds, two Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in the Talpaku Communality maintain one Naval base in the subsector.

The Talpaku Communality has an estimated population of 7 billion within the subsector, distributed across one High population (Hi) world, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, one Non-industrial (Ni) world, one Low population (Lo) world, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Chaos Fallen (Yiklerzdanzh 0631). The population consists of 1 sophont group.

Talpaku Communality Client State[edit]

A Talpaku Communality Client State has jurisdiction over one world in the subsector with an estimated population of less than 1 million, a per capita income of Cr0, and a total economy of BCr0. Driving this economy are no Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds.
