Domino is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.

  • This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)

Stellar Data

Domino is a binary star system.

  • Both are red main sequence stars.
Domino has two stars in the star system.

System Data

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data

Domino is tidally locked to its two stars.

  • The stars are always high in the sky on the bright face, they hang on the horizon in the twilight zone, while the cold dark face is in permanent darkness.
  • The world experiences libration - a regular wobble - as it orbits, causing the stars to move in the sky.

Mainworld Size (S)

Domino is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Domino has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Domino has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

There is a dense crust of ice and frost covering the dark face of the world and a world-sea running entirely around twilight zone. Geographical depressions create warm seas far into the arid bright face in some places, while the world-sea's waters extend far under the ice on the dark face. There are several large islands within the sea, and the bright face of the world qualifies as a continent. The vast majority of the bright face is hard-pan desert. Strong winds driven by temperature differences constantly blow.

History & Background (Dossier)

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Domino has mostly been settled by colonists from Valdarno.

World Starport (St)

Domino has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)

Domino has a population of 200,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
  • The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.

Urbanization

Two major city-states exist on opposite sides of the largest continent, on the shores of the world sea.

Linguistic Topography

The most commonly heard languages are:

World Technology Level (T)

DominoWorldname possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.

World Government (G)

Domino has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

World Law (L)

Domino has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors).
