Canaan is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Canaan has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Canaan has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

History & Background (Dossier)

Canaan is a member of the Staai Main, a cluster and important regional trade route lying across parts of Canopus Sector, Dark Nebula Sector, and Magyar Sector. The border between the Solomani Confederation and the Aslan Hierate divides it into distinctive spinward and trailing regions. Large numbers of Humans and Aslan, most typically merchants, traders, or casual visitors such as tourists, can be found on both sides of the border.

• Within Canopus and Magyar Sectors, it is known as the Xianjin-Brimate Cluster.

Hyades Cluster

The hundreds of stars and vast, faintly glowing gas clouds that make up the Hyades Cluster, a few parsecs to trailing, are clearly visible to the naked eye from the surface of the world.

• The tidal influence of the stars at the Cluster's core can be detected in the orbits of the system's planets and moons.
• Despite their immense distance from the world, the Cluster's stars cause interference, strange tones and noises, and constant static on commo and sensors.

Other Data

This world was once known as Htahoi, and was the homeworld of the Aslan Clan Hwriayro. The clan was forced to relinquish their world as part of the Peace of Dark Nebula, a loss they have never forgotten or forgiven. All plant and animal species in the Soirlairao complex on the new Hwriayro homeworld of Oakhiyye are descended from those brought out of Htahoi.

Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.

World Starport (St)

Canaan has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)

Canaan has a population of 50,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

• The population almost entirely consists of Solomani Humans.

The most commonly heard languages are:

• Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Solomani Confederation.
• Trokh, the principal language of the Aslan Hierate.
  • Minor Aslan Languages: note that some Aslan Clans retain obscure or archaic languages for personal use in addition to Trokh.

Canaan has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

World Law (L)

Canaan has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked, and destinations must often be declared when traveling substantial distances across the world.

• -2204 to -1776: The Rule of Man administers the former Ziru Sirka.
