Ursula is a nonindustrial, rich, agricultural world with improving living conditions due to a bustling agro-economy.

  • As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
  • Its economy is bustling and an increase in living conditions is expected in the near future.
  • It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Suhayl Subsector of Canopus Sector.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Ursula orbits within the prime region of its star's habitable zone.

Chart Orbit HZ Region Detailed.png

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Ursula is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Ursula has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Ursula has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Ursula is a member of (and the namesake of) the Ursulan Strand, a small cluster and minor trade route lying within the rimward-trailing quadrant of Canopus Sector.

During the Rim War the Confederation attempted to "relocate" a number of non-human races to other worlds, principally to fill gaps in the labor market caused by humans serving in the military. Large numbers of Zarn were shipped to the world to assist with agricultural tasks, the majority being semi-intelligent but still useful members of the race. Their services remain in demand, they have integrated relatively well, and generally they are thriving.

Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Ursula has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Zarn Sophont Comparison.jpg

Ursula has a population of 3,000,000 sophonts (millions).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
  • More than 95% of the population (over 2.85 million individuals) is made up of Solomani humans.
  • Less than 5% of the population (fewer than 150,000 individuals) consists of sophont Zarn: there are at least a hundred non-intelligent or semi-intelligent members of the species for every fully intellighent Zarn present on the world.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly heard languages are:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Ursula possesses a Technology Level of TL–3.

World Government (G)[edit]

Ursula has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

World Law (L)[edit]

Ursula has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
