Trieumf is a nonindustrial, fluidic hellworld with a population struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.
- A fluid world has an oceanic geography consisting of heavily contaminated water or a substance such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquid.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Cybele Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.
- This is a frozen world, with a climate of extremely low temperatures.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Trieumf is a binary star system.
- The primary is a yellow main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld. Despite its orbital distance – Approximately 1.5 AU – it is the primary star's innermost rocky world.
- x8 secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 planetoid belts.
- The three belts occupy the primary star's inner system and habitable zone.
- All three are narrow and gravelly, containing no bodies with diameters greater than 50 kms.
- x2 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Trieumf is the yellow primary star's innermost world, orbiting at the very outer edge of its habitable zone.
- It receives relatively low levels of stellar energy.
While the atmosphere usually blocks the sky, the star Beta Tauri is sometimes visible in clear conditions.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Trieumf is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Trieumf has an Exotic Atmosphere and possesses an unusual gas mix which requires the use of oxygen tanks. Additionally, protective suits, while not necessary, are recommended. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It has a nitrogen-methane atmosphere.
- It experiences very low temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Trieumf has 15-25% of its surface covered by water-ice heavily tainted with other substances, which makes it dangerous, corrosive, or toxic. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds may be Hell Worlds.
- Water got from the surface may be unsuitable for use or consumption without extensive filtering and purification.
- Refining for fuel may cause issues with shipboard purification plants.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
Trieumf has frozen water-ice and frost at the ice-caps, and an equatorial methane-ethene ocean.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Trieumf was claimed and named by Captain Jon Smið (sic) of the colony vessel Waiferar (massing over 4000 dTons and rated at Jump-4).
The combination of harsh environmental factors and relatively low technological levels mean that constant vigilance is needed to prevent structural failures that could cause mass casualties. The high law level reflects the laws around environment management, water-air management, and energy usage that allow for life on Trieumf. That said, failure to follow local regulations can lead to high fines and/or a prison sentence, often for many years.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Trieumf has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
Trieumf finds it difficult to maintain this starport, instead focusing on its ability to service large cargo haulers. There are berths for smaller vessels, but these are located further away from the major terminals and heavy-rail facilities.
Trieumf downport is home to an outpost of the Travellers' Aid Society (TAS). Members should check in as soon as feasible upon arrival for up-to-date local updates, advisements, and warnings.
World Population (P)[edit]
Trieumf has a population of 400,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.
Urbanization[edit]
The star town of Weewon was created using cold world plastic domes from Orient, and the Orient technology was used to create a local housing-dome industry using the ethane ocean resources.
The current capitol, Gol, is built using advanced structural plastics in combination with advanced reinforced concretes using Tech-A techniques again from Orient.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Quesadan Spanish, a Terran language principally spoken in the Grand United States of Quesada.
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Trieumf possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Trieumf is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.
World Law (L)[edit]
Trieumf has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors).
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -3 (very unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
The economy is centered around ethane collection, hydrocarbon production, water separation, and propane/hexane prospecting.
The world gains considerable revenue from the export of residential plastic domes, cold-environment structures, and modular housing.
- Resources: C (very abundant)
- Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
- Efficiency: +3 (improved)
World Culture[edit]
The world's culture is drawn from the Grand United States of Quesada, mostly from the worlds of Colima and Martinez.
- Heterogenity: 1 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 2 (very xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
- Symbols: 9 (somewhat abstract)
