Taurea is a high-population garden world with a billion or more sophonts in population size and a near-ideal utopian environment conducive to most sophonts.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Taurea is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Taurea has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Taurea has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Taurea is a Forbidden World and is designated as a Red Zone. It presents serious risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that make it extremely dangerous to visitors.

  • Travel to this world is prohibited.

Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.

Native Sophont[edit]

The Taureans are a broadly mammalianoid sophont minor race that are native to the world. They are physically very small, typically measuring about 30 cm in height and weighing around 20 kg, have a trilateral symmetry, and are covered in dense fur that insulates them and helps protect the body from impacts. Taurean brain size is small but it is very densely packed with neurons: while Taureans can never attain the levels of intelligence of even an average human, for their size they are extremely smart. Taurean senses tend not to be as sharp as those of humans, but they have an extremely well developed natural sensitivity to magnetic and electrical fields.

  • They are sometimes referred to as Forest Imps.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Taurea has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Taurea has a population of 10,000,000,000 sophonts (tens of billions).

  • High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
  • The population almost entirely consists of native Taureans.
  • Small numbers of humans of Solomani descent are present on the world.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly heard languages are:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Taurea possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World Government (G)[edit]

Taurea is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.

World Law (L)[edit]

Taurea has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A world with this law level may be an Amber Zone or a Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. On worlds with this degree of law, it is difficult to distinguish the police from the military. On others, there is no difference.

Trade Data[edit]

World Economy[edit]

Taurea has a self-sustaining, technologically advanced world economy. It is relatively isolated, with some imports of minerals and metals from Weinberg.
