Khaellung Subsector is Subsector K of Windhorn Sector.

Description / Specifications[edit]

(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)

Khaellung Subsector is a region that has seen millennia of settlement by both Humans and Vargr. During the Ziru Sirka its rimward worlds had many millions of Human inhabitants and were generally more technologically advanced than they are today.

  • The resources of the subsector are being exploited.
  • Many worlds have Ziru Sirka-era ruins and remains on their surfaces.

Astrographic Features & Trade Routes[edit]

The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding Khaellung Subsector:

  • The subsector is an average stellar density region.
  • The brightest star is the white main sequence primary of the Ksalarrkfaegz system.

Stellar Distribution[edit]

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Khaellung Subsector, right:

  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

Rift Regions[edit]

(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)

The Windhorn Rift dominates the majority of the subsector, with a few navigable stars lying to trailing and rimward.

  • The rift hinders travel and commerce within the region.
  • It has placed a boundary on settlement and expansion within the area.

Locally at least, a rift is an astrographic concept based on Jump Drive performance.

The boundaries of rifts were established centuries ago, when the highest commonly encountered tech level was TL–12.

This traditional definition of rift regions remains in use today: while modern high performance starships can easily cross them, most commercial vessels continue to utilize Jump-3 or less drives. Because of this most traffic is concentrated within higher stellar density regions, and as such the classic definition and boundaries of rift regions remains relevant.

World Listing[edit]

AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:

Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, is likely to be out of date.

  • Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
  • Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.
  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Khaellung Subsector was originally settled by scattered groups of Vilani during the Ziru Sirka and some worlds were incorporated into the Empire under the dominion of the Naasirka bureaux. It was overrun by the Vargr during the Long Night and continues to be a Vargr-dominated region into the present day.

Polity Listing[edit]

The following polities lie within the subsector:

Subsector Summary[edit]

Khaellung, subsector K of Windhorn, contains seven worlds with an estimated combined population of 1 billion, a per capita income of Cr2,679, and a total economy of BCr3,023. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr13 through 6 starports (2 Class A, 1 Class B, 3 Class C, 0 Class D) employing 1,700 people. Driving this interstellar trade are one Agricultural (Ag) world, two Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, one Pre-Industrial (Pi) world, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Khaellung maintain three Naval bases. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 7 and 10). The highest technology level is 11 at Otogaerrg (Windhorn 1830).

Khaellung, subsector K of Windhorn, contains nine stars and 72 identified planets; five monostellar systems, two binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 5 of the seven systems (71%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, no Desert (De) worlds, no Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, one Poor (Po) world, three Vacuum (Va) worlds, and no Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Khaellung has an estimated population of 1 billion distributed across no High population (Hi) worlds, two Moderate population (Ph) worlds, two Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, two Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Ksalarrkfaegz (Windhorn 1730) and Lloendaz (Windhorn 2229). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group.

17th Disjucture[edit]

The 17th Disjucture has jurisdiction over five worlds in the subsector with an estimated combined population of 428 million, a per capita income of Cr2,275, and a total economy of BCr974. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr0 through 4 starports (0 Class A, 1 Class B, 3 Class C, 0 Class D) employing 105 people. Driving this interstellar trade are no Agricultural (Ag) worlds, two Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, one Pre-Industrial (Pi) world, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in the 17th Disjucture maintain two Naval bases within the subsector. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 6 and 9). The highest technology level is 10 at Naeduer (Windhorn 2326).

The 17th Disjucture has an estimated population of 428 million within the subsector, distributed across no High population (Hi) worlds, one Moderate population (Ph) world, one Non-industrial (Ni) world, two Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Lloendaz (Windhorn 2229). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group.
