Dresselhaus is a nonindustrial fluid world.
- A fluid world has an oceanic geography consisting of heavily contaminated water or a substance such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquid.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Hyades Subsector of Canopus Sector.
- This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
- It is a member of the Xianjin-Brimate Cluster.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Dresselhaus has a solitary primary star.
- It is a blue-white main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x8 secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Dresselhaus orbits towards the outer edge of its star's habitable zone.
- It receives relatively low levels of stellar energy.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Dresselhaus is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Dresselhaus has a Corrosive Atmosphere and possesses a concentrated gas mix or unusual temperature which requires the use of a Hostile Environment Suit or Vacc Suit. TL–9 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences low temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Dresselhaus has 85-95% of its surface covered by a fluid other than water. Wilderness refueling is not possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds may be Hell Worlds.
- This surface fluid may be ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids depending on the local temperature and environment.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Dresselhaus is a member of the Xianjin-Brimate Cluster, a cluster and important regional trade route lying across parts of Canopus Sector, Dark Nebula Sector, and Magyar Sector. The border between the Solomani Confederation and the Aslan Hierate divides it into distinctive spinward and trailing regions. Large numbers of humans and Aslan, most typically merchants, traders, or casual visitors such as tourists, can be found on both sides of the border.
- Within Dark Nebula, the Cluster is known as the Staai Main.
Hyades Cluster[edit]
The huge stars of the Hyades Cluster, a mere parsec to rimward, are clearly visible to the naked eye from the surface of the world.
- The tidal influence of the stars at the Cluster's core can be detected in the orbits of the system's planets and moons.
- Despite their immense distance from the world, the Cluster's stars cause interference, strange tones and noises, and constant static on commo and sensors.
Other Data[edit]
Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Dresselhaus has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Dresselhaus has a population of 200,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Solomani Confederation.
- Trokh, the principal language of the Aslan Hierate.
- Minor Aslan Languages: note that some Aslan Clans retain obscure or archaic languages for personal use in addition to Trokh.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Dresselhaus possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Dresselhaus is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
World Law (L)[edit]
Dresselhaus has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Machine guns, other automatic weapons, portable energy weapons, and other military weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

- Importance: -3 (very unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: F (extremely abundant)
- Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
- Efficiency: +5 (very advanced)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 7 (discordant)
- Acceptance: 2 (very xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 1 (very typical)
- Symbols: B (abstract)
