Cornell has 85-95% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice heavily tainted with other substances, which makes it dangerous, corrosive, or toxic. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds may be Hell Worlds.

• The water on the surface may be unsuitable for use or consumption without extensive filtering and purification.
• Refining for fuel may cause issues with shipboard purification plants.

Cornell is a member of (and the namesake of) the Cornell Trace, a small cluster and minor trade route lying within the rimward-trailing quadrant of Canopus Sector.

Despite the world not being a part of the Confederation, Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the State and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, while a few see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.

World Starport (St)

Cornell has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
