The Allegiance Code or AC is a two or more letter designation for an interstellar government or polity.

Description (Specifications)

Two letters are insufficient to encompass all the minor empires in explored space, and as such the allegiance code is case-sensitive. A map of subsector majority allegiance codes can be found at Subsector Map.

Organizational Schema

Because there are so many allegiance codes, this list has been broken into three organization lists:

History & Background (Dossier)

The Office of the Emperor, the Imperial Bureaucracy, the Imperial Interstellar Scout Service, the Travellers' Aid Society, the Merchant Service, the Educational Institutes, and many other interstellar organizations use this data for governance, interstellar economy, world surveys, and other necessary tasks.

Such data drives Charted Space.

Pre-Imperial Common Codes

The Pre-Imperial date from before the Holiday Year and have no common sequence. While many are 6 letters in sequence, plenty of exceptions exist. Ziru Sirka and Vilani Empire sequences tended to be organized by Bureaux.

First Survey Common Codes

First Survey codes range from the Holiday Year as a direct transfer from the Sylean Federation until the beginning of the Second Survey. While the data set wasn't called First Survey until the year 300, it was continually used and added to until the official declaration of the Second Survey in 995. It was expanded to 4-letters sometime after the First Civil War. The 2-letter codes were causing much confusion.

As Aslan Hierate The Hierate term is a misnomer that stuck. Aslan tend to be highly spiritual, but not so religious.
Cs Client State Are most often the rebellious elements of former Pocket Empires.
Dr Droyne World Known to researchers as the Droyne Oytrip Yatroy.
Hv Hive Federation Sometimes mistakenly called the Hiver Empire or Confederation.
Im Imperial Often simply called the Imperium, despite being the third of its kind.
Kk K'kree Two Thousand Worlds empire Was called the Centaur Empire for a number of years after First Contact.
Na Non-Aligned Independent worlds, mostly World-States are grist for the larger interstellar empires.
So Solomani Confederation The Solomani, once known as the Terrans have had extensive political turnover of governments.
Zh Zhodani Consulate The Zhodani have one of the most stable political systems known to Charted Space.

Second Survey Common Codes

The Second Survey allegiance code set built upon First Survey data and was initiated in 995. IT has continually been added to since with the most current entries dating 1116.
