Egypt is a nonindustrial fluid world.
- A fluid world has an oceanic geography consisting of heavily contaminated water or a substance such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquid.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Glisten Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector in the Domain of Deneb.
- This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
- This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation, including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
- This world has an Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.
- Egypt is a member of the Spinward Main.
- It lies on the Glisten Arm.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)
Stellar Data
Egypt has a solitary primary star.
- It is a white main sequence.
System Data
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x10 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
- x1 gas giant.
Mainworld Data
Egypt has been selected for a Ministry of Colonization training base; it has domes containing simulated environments, with the final test being survival on Egypt's surface with its insidious (hydrogen) atmosphere.
Mainworld Size (S)
Egypt is a Big World between 15,200km and 16,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1.1G and 1.5G. The horizon will appear about 5.7km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)
Egypt has an Insidious Atmosphere which requires the use of a Hostile Environment Suit or Vacc Suit, but extreme conditions cause the corrosive effects to defeat any personal protective measures in a few hours. TL–10 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It contains very high levels of hydrogen.
- It experiences extremely high atmospheric pressures and very low temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)
Egypt has 55-65% of its surface covered by a fluid other than water. Wilderness refueling is not possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds may be Hell Worlds.
- This surface fluid may be ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids depending on the local temperature and environment.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)
Until 940, the Glisten Subsector was an isolated spur of the Imperial X-Boat network and a backwater for marginal officials of the Imperial bureaucracy. In 941, District 268 was opened by decree of Margaret II and the Glisten Subsector has since served as a base for the colonization and integration of the new territory.
The planet's population is solely dependent upon its status as a research station and a colonization waypoint, all entirely owned and managed by the Imperial Ministry of Colonization.
World Starport (St)
Egypt has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- The world is host to a Naval Base.
The Naval Base hosts elements of the 100th Fleet.
World Population (P)
Egypt has a population of 500,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
There are a few hundred Jonkeereen on Egypt, and they are solely involved with scientific studies, mostly on the suitability of their species for various planets. Sometimes relations between scientists and Jonkeereen become a bit strained because of the Jonkereen's history with the Ministry. Most of these Jonkeereen originate on Melior, though a few are born on Egypt as well.
Urbanization
Various environmental domes contain the different environments that colonists might encounter.
Linguistic Topography
The following languages are most commonly heard:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)
Egypt possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)
Egypt has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
- This world is controlled by the Imperial Ministry of Colonization, with the direct assistance of the Imperial Navy.
World Law (L)
Egypt has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Imperial Landed Nobility
Egypt, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world.
