Subsector D of Crucis Margin Sector.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

With most of its systems on the Great Crucis Main, the subsector is an excellent environment for trade and planetary development. Unfortunately, this means it has been exploited for millennia, and many worlds of the modern Mercantile Concord, while rich in historical treasures, are now depleted and in decline.

Subsector Summary: 1116[edit]

Chin Shan, subsector D of Crucis Margin, contains 33 worlds with an estimated combined population of 10 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,689, and a total economy of BCr50,492. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr933 through 29 starports (6 Class A, 9 Class B, 8 Class C, 6 Class D) employing 253,700 people. Driving this interstellar trade are six Agricultural (Ag) worlds, one Non-Agricultural (Na) world, four Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, seven Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, five Rich (Ri) worlds, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in Chin Shan maintain one Naval base and one Scout base. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 7 and 10). The highest technology level is 12 at Chin Shan (Crucis Margin 2602) and Kung-Sang (Crucis Margin 2806).

Chin Shan, subsector D of Crucis Margin, contains 51 stars and 337 identified planets; 17 monostellar systems, 14 binary systems, two trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 18 of the 33 systems (54%) have native gas giants. There are one Asteroid (As) belt, one Desert (De) world, three Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, two Poor (Po) worlds, one Vacuum (Va) world, and four Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Chin Shan has an estimated population of 10 billion distributed across one High population (Hi) world, six Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 13 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, five Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Pu Chou (Crucis Margin 2608). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group, with various minority enclaves.

Mercantile Concord[edit]

The Mercantile Concord has jurisdiction over 30 worlds within the subsector with an estimated combined population of 10 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,702, and a total economy of BCr50,447. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr933 through 27 starports (6 Class A, 9 Class B, 7 Class C, 5 Class D) employing 253,700 people. Driving this interstellar trade are five Agricultural (Ag) worlds, one Non-Agricultural (Na) world, four Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, seven Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, four Rich (Ri) worlds, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in the Mercantile Concord maintain one Naval base and one Scout base within the subsector. The average technology level is 9 (with most between 7 and 10). The highest technology level is 12 at Chin Shan (Crucis Margin 2602) and Kung-Sang (Crucis Margin 2806).

The Mercantile Concord has an estimated population of 10 billion within the subsector, distributed across one High population (Hi) world, six Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 11 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, five Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Pu Chou (Crucis Margin 2608). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group.

Non-Aligned, Human-dominated[edit]

There are three Non-Aligned Human-dominated worlds in Chin Shan with an estimated combined population of 40 million.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

This subsector has been exploited for a long time. Before Humans arrived, evidence suggests that the Faar may have had colonies in Chin Shan.

The Solomani came here early, forming the Mercantile Concord nearly 3,000 years ago. They retain a unique culture but this has become increasingly isolationist and militaristic as their tired pocket empire crumbles internally.

The semi-mythical Harmony Garden, supposedly a colony in which members of many species live in an isolated paradise in perfect cooperation, is often supposed to be located in this subsector if it actually exists. Certainly the region has any number of fascinating treasures. Supposedly, the reason for the secrecy of Harmony Garden is that among the inhabitants are omnivorous K'kree. This would mean inevitable assault by the morally outraged forces of the Two Thousand Worlds if confirmed.

The Jastrin Mercenary Corporation, based at Pu Chou, provides ground forces, planetary defenses, and even naval squadrons to worlds in this subsector.
