Chin Shan is a rich, agricultural, nonindustrial garden world with a near-ideal, utopian environment conducive to most sophonts and high-grade living conditions due to a bustling economy.

  • As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
  • Its economy and population are rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to quickly rise barring outside forces.
  • It is a member of the Mercantile Concord in the Chin Shan Subsector of Crucis Margin Sector.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

This world gives its name to the subsector.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Chin Shan has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Chin Shan has a population of 5,000,000 sophonts (millions).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

World Languages[edit]

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Chin Shan possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Chin Shan is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.

Each Mercantile Concord member system forms a political faction. Alliances between member systems occur and dissolve regularly as the political and economic fortunes of each change. While member systems will quickly unite against an external threat, internally they are prone to intrigue, disunity, even warfare.

World Military[edit]

The various worlds, corporations and shipping lines of the Concord have their own security, military and naval forces.

World Law (L)[edit]

Chin Shan has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
