Amalgamation Union
The Amalgamation Union was a polity once located in Numbis Sector and Crucis Margin Sector. Its worlds no longer show any inclination to unify under the old names, though some around the fringes now belong to other polities.
- It was part of Charted Space.

Description[edit]
A now vanished state which spanned the Numbis Sector and Crucis Margin Sector border. Most of the state was in Crucis Margin, occupying what is now a political vacuum in the trailing part of the sector. As such, it is sometimes referred to as the Union Crucis. A complete list of member worlds is not available to Imperial records, as some ships of the First Survey in the region went missing, and others reported sporadically hostile receptions. The Union was, according to some fragmentary records, anything but unified, with several factions driven by cultural differences having a constant destabilizing effect on internal politics.
Names thought to refer to old cultural blocs within the Union are known from a number of incomplete records, including Suo, Sliv, Cast, and Nar.
This polity was also known as the Gold Union. While specifics are not available, it is theorized that the Gold Union was an older state that expanded to include many other systems that were not culturally unified or even compatible, and that the new name was chosen to reflect that. Imperial historians have commented that this shows far more self-awareness than is typical of conquering states or their politicians, and have cast some doubt on the theory.
History & Background[edit]
The founding of the Amalgamation Union is shrouded by the subsequent years, but it was documented by the Imperial First Survey as an existing state. Imperial records indicate that different member worlds would sometimes use the name "Gold Union" without explanation.
By the time of the Second Survey centuries later, there was no sign of the Amalgamation Union aside from common architectural themes in old capital buildings and monuments. Even the previously observed cultural groups had fractured or vanished entirely.
