Subsector L of Crucis Margin Sector.
Description[edit]
The subsector is noted for the high-population Droyne world of Tubroyllufotyusk. The local Humans, not understanding the nature of disparate Droyne societies, often mistakenly call their nation The Oytrip. (An oytrip is a general term for a Droyne community).
Part of the multi-system polity known as The Reach is found here. Officially the Turku-Ranua Guaranteed Trade Corridor, even its own people call it The Reach. All five of its worlds (three of them within this subsector) are self-governing, and contribute funds and forces to a central defense command. The Reach Conclave, with representatives from all five worlds in proportion to their economic importance, is based at the orbital cityport of Turkan Imal ("Home in Orbit" in an local dialect.)
Summary[edit]
No Return, subsector L of Crucis Margin, contains 27 worlds with an estimated combined population of 9 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,300, and a total economy of BCr39,945. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr574 through 25 starports (5 Class A, 5 Class B, 8 Class C, 7 Class D) employing 110,675 people. Driving this interstellar trade are five Agricultural (Ag) worlds, three Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, four Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, five Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, three Rich (Ri) worlds, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in No Return maintain two Naval bases. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 6 and 10). The highest technology level is 13 at Tubroyllufotyusk (Crucis Margin 2623).
No Return, subsector L of Crucis Margin, contains 37 stars and 266 identified planets; 17 monostellar systems, ten binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 15 of the 27 systems (55%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, two Desert (De) worlds, two Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, five Poor (Po) worlds, one Vacuum (Va) world, and one Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) world.
No Return has an estimated population of 9 billion distributed across two High population (Hi) worlds, five Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 12 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, two Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Tubroyllufotyusk (Crucis Margin 2623) and Vaala (Crucis Margin 2630). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups.

Non-Aligned, Human-dominated[edit]
There are 23 Non-Aligned Human-dominated worlds in No Return with an estimated combined population of 5 billion.
The Reach[edit]
The Reach has jurisdiction over three worlds in this subsector with an estimated combined population of 40 million, a per capita income of Cr4,800, and a total economy of BCr192. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr6 through 3 starports (1 Class A, 0 Class B, 1 Class C, 1 Class D) employing 3,745 people. Driving this interstellar trade are one Agricultural (Ag) world, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, two Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds.
The Reach has an estimated population of 40 million within this subsector, distributed across no High population (Hi) worlds, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, no Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, one Low population (Lo) world, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Ranua (Crucis Margin 2728) and Pokka (Crucis Margin 2627). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups.
Non-Aligned, Droyne-dominated[edit]
There is one Non-Aligned Droyne world in No Return with an estimated population of 4 billion.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Demographics[edit]
The following sophont races are found here in significant numbers:
- Non-Human
Linguistic Topography: 1105[edit]
The following languages are among the most commonly used within this astrographic region:
- Anglic: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium and common to many human worlds; in this region, mostly variant dialects.
- Gurvin: The common language of the Hive Federation and a secondary language in many of its client states.
- Hiver Sign Language: The silent, visual language used naturally by Hivers.
- Ithkluri: The common language of the Ithklur, and used in conjunction with Gurvin throughout the Hive Federation and adjacent space.
- Oynprith: The ceremonial language used by Droyne communities throughout Charted Space.
- Raxkiir: A language developed by clients of the K'kree, a heavily derived variant of !kee suitable for humanoid use. It is commonly used by those trading with K'kree interests, as well as client races acting on behalf of the Two Thousand Worlds.
- Vilani: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium and common to many human worlds; in this region, mostly variant dialects.
Major Historical Events Timeline: 1116[edit]
These are some of the more important historical events that have affected this area:
- Circa -2500: The Karhyri of Sfyri manage to colonize Kald by means of sublight starships. They find the remains of a crashed Hiver vessel on the planet.
- Within 50 years the Karhyri are able to build crude Jump-capable vessels.
- -2390: The founders of the Mercantile Concord leave Terra.
- Circa -2000: The "empty odyssey" of the Karhyri charts much of rimward Crucis Margin as it moves trailing in search of the Hivers.
- (-1776 to 0): The Long Night.
- The Gold Union forms at some unknown point on the Crucis Margin-Numbis border. It will in time apparently become the Amalgamation Union.
- -150: Syzlin, formerly a rebellious world of the now defunct Kaiter Hegemony, begins to expand and takes full control of its cluster as the Syzlin Empire.
- The Year 0: To spinward, the Third Imperium is founded.
- 280: The Katowice Conquest is established on Katowice when a group of ambitious naval commanders from the Old Worlds navy break away.
- 300-420: The Imperial First Survey.
- Some ships of the Survey go missing in the region. Fragmentary reports suggest that the Amalgamation ("Gold") Union is destabilizing.
- Circa 500: The Syzlin Empire peaks at 24 systems.
- 722: An alliance of Ranua and Turku forms the Turku-Ranua Guaranteed Trade Corridor, commonly known as The Reach.
- 778: A rebellion on Osaka triggers the partial collapse of the Syzlin Empire, reducing it to six systems.
- Circa 800: A wave of reform sweeps through the remaining Syzlin Empire systems. A brief but bitter civil war results in a republic replacing the empire.
- 805: A large group of psionic refugees from the Imperium, fleeing the Psionic Suppressions, head straight for Tubroyllufotyusk and are taken in by the Droyne there.
- 995 to 1065: The Imperial Second Survey.
- There is no sign of the Amalgamation Union, aside from common architectural themes in old capital buildings and monuments.
