Subsector P of Crucis Margin Sector.
Description[edit]
Kixum Subsector is the site of the Empire of Olduvai, which controls two worlds: Olduvai itself and Falaya.
A series of six worlds in the trailing-rimward region of the subsector are clients of the Hive Federation. The six worlds have a very loose mutual defense and trade agreement -- sometimes called the Hv'ika Kamlin -- independent of direct Hiver support (although Manipulations are no doubt in play). Although the Hiver client worlds are rather different from one another, all are moderately to extremely high-technology states, and wield considerable economic power. Most of the Hiver trade into Crucis Margin and beyond passes through these worlds.
Throughout the subsector, daily affairs are influenced by the Hiver way of life.

Kixum, subsector P of Crucis Margin, contains 26 worlds with an estimated combined population of 4 billion, a per capita income of Cr3,333, and a total economy of BCr14,839. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr193 through 22 starports (7 Class A, 8 Class B, 3 Class C, 4 Class D) employing 30,510 people. Driving this interstellar trade are five Agricultural (Ag) worlds, one Non-Agricultural (Na) world, three Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, three Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, four Rich (Ri) worlds, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in Kixum maintain one Naval base and one Scout base. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 6 and 10). The highest technology level is 12 at Kheri (Crucis Margin 2532).
Kixum, subsector P of Crucis Margin contains 37 stars and 271 identified planets; 15 monostellar systems, 11 binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 14 of the 26 systems (53%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, no Desert (De) worlds, one Garden (Ga) world, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, two Poor (Po) worlds, one Vacuum (Va) world, and three Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.
Kixum has an estimated population of 4 billion distributed across one High population (Hi) world, four Moderate population (Ph) worlds, eight Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, five Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Rion (Crucis Margin 2840). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups.
