Olduvai has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Olduvai has 05-15% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.

Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Olduvai had strong links with the Hive Federation from the 900s, and bought some of its technology from regular Hiver trade vessels. This allowed Olduvai to construct a number of trade and military vessels capable of Jump-2.
The Olduvai culture is known for its overblown ostentation and pretentious outlook.
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Olduvai has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

Olduvai has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
Specifically, Olduvai (or "Imperial Olduvai" after the Falaya conquest) is subdivided into many Imperial Princedoms. These form into three kingdoms.
The Hive Federation races living here form their own faction, remaining outside the Human power politics.
World Military[edit]
The Imperial Princes maintain household forces. These vary considerably; some are merely security guards for the estates, while the more powerful princes maintain large private armies and a few jump-capable warships. No Prince has even a fraction of the Imperial forces.
Foreign Relations[edit]
Ships under registry to The Reach are banned from Olduvai ports due to allegations that the Reach has supplied high-technology weapons to certain Imperial Princes, disrupting the balance of power.
World Law Level (L)[edit]
Olduvai has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
