Subsector O of Crucis Margin Sector, consisting of neutral territory.
Description[edit]
Scatter is named appropriately. With the exception of the worlds forming The Hook in its coreward stretch (and a single system to spinward associated with the Tsavo Reach), this subsector's stars are generally isolated. Traversing the region can be difficult for civilian traffic.
Summary[edit]
Scatter, subsector O of Crucis Margin, contains 20 worlds with an estimated combined population of 2 billion, a per capita income of Cr2,166, and a total economy of BCr4,690. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr50 through 14 starports (1 Class A, 3 Class B, 5 Class C, 5 Class D) employing 7,055 people. Driving this interstellar trade are three Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, six Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, five Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The average technology level is 7 (with most between 5 and 8). The highest technology level is 10 at Krandin (Crucis Margin 1737) and Nieuw (Crucis Margin 2031).
Scatter, subsector O of Crucis Margin, contains 24 stars and 220 identified planets; 16 monostellar systems, four binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 12 of the 20 systems (60%) have native gas giants. There are one Asteroid (As) belt, no Desert (De) worlds, three Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, one Poor (Po) world, two Vacuum (Va) worlds, and one Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) world.
Scatter has an estimated population of 2 billion distributed across no High population (Hi) worlds, four Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 12 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, three Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Mimsilmi (Crucis Margin 2433), Wald (Crucis Margin 2231), Nieuw (Crucis Margin 2031), and Emis (Crucis Margin 2431). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group.

Non-Aligned, Human-dominated[edit]
There are 20 Non-Aligned Human-dominated worlds in Scatter with an estimated combined population of 2 billion.

Astrographic Features & Trade Routes: 1116[edit]
The following astrographic features and trade routes can be found within this area:
- The Hook: Six systems
- Kah-Wak Main: A single system, on the subsector's rimward border.
- Tsavo Reach: A single system
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The rimward systems of the subsector were first charted by the Karhyri during their historic journey to return Hiver bodies recovered from a crashed ship. Many worlds still have Karhyr names.
The astrography of the subsector prevents easy access to Crucis Margin from the Kah-Wak Main to rimward, thereby contributing to the undeveloped nature of much of the sector.
Timeline[edit]
Significant events that have affected this subsector include the following:
- Circa -2000: The "empty odyssey" of the Karhyri charts parts of the subsector as it moves trailing, entering at Krandin.
