Subsector K of Crucis Margin Sector.
Description[edit]
Summary[edit]
Reach, subsector K of Crucis Margin, contains 28 worlds with an estimated combined population of 2 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,377, and a total economy of BCr12,152. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr1,720 through 25 starports (9 Class A, 3 Class B, 9 Class C, 4 Class D) employing 334,405 people. Driving this interstellar trade are five Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, four Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, ten Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Reach maintain three Naval bases. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 6 and 11). The highest technology level is 12 at Temassinin (Crucis Margin 1726), Biskra (Crucis Margin 1921), Timgad (Crucis Margin 1924), Tlemcen (Crucis Margin 2027), and Turku (Crucis Margin 2329).
Reach, subsector K of Crucis Margin, contains 45 stars and 291 identified planets; 11 monostellar systems, 17 binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 17 of the 28 systems (60%) have native gas giants. There are one Asteroid (As) belt, no Desert (De) worlds, three Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, four Poor (Po) worlds, four Vacuum (Va) worlds, and no Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.
Reach has an estimated population of 2 billion distributed across no High population (Hi) worlds, nine Moderate population (Ph) worlds, eight Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, six Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Tlemcen (Crucis Margin 2027), Kuhmo (Crucis Margin 2428), Biskra (Crucis Margin 1921), Chenachane (Crucis Margin 1822), Turku (Crucis Margin 2329), and Temassinin (Crucis Margin 1726). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups.

Non-Aligned, Human-dominated[edit]
There are 21 Non-Aligned Human-dominated worlds in Reach with an estimated combined population of 1 billion.
Old Worlds[edit]
The Old Worlds has jurisdiction over five worlds in the subsector with an estimated combined population of 710 million, a per capita income of Cr4,857, and a total economy of BCr3,449. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr510 through 5 starports (1 Class A, 2 Class B, 1 Class C, 1 Class D) employing 103,875 people. Driving this interstellar trade are one Agricultural (Ag) world, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, one Pre-Industrial (Pi) world, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Old Worlds maintain one Naval base within the subsector. The average technology level is 9 (with most between 7 and 11). The highest technology level is 12 at Biskra (Crucis Margin 1921).

The highest population worlds are Biskra (Crucis Margin 1921) and Chenachane (Crucis Margin 1822). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group.
- The capital of the Old Worlds is Biskra (Crucis Margin 1921).
The Reach[edit]
The Reach has jurisdiction over two worlds in the subsector with an estimated combined population of 800 million, a per capita income of Cr3,587, and a total economy of BCr2,870. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr7 through 2 starports (1 Class A, 0 Class B, 0 Class C, 1 Class D) employing 4,735 people. Astrographic Features & Trade Routes: 1116[edit]
The following astrographic features and trade routes can be found within this area:
- The Hook: Three systems
- Jarpen Cluster: Two systems, including the namesake (which holds that status due to its central location)
- Mellansel Cluster: Two systems
- The Reach: Two of the five systems
- Tindouf Cluster: Four systems
- Wroclaw Transit: Two systems
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
This subsector is most famous for The Reach, a political entity established in 722 by the union of two political factions.
- Turku (Crucis Margin 2329) was at one point the home of the infamous Corsairs of the Turku Waste.
Some worlds in this subsector were members of the defunct Amalgamation Union.

Major Historical Events Timeline: 1116[edit]
These are some of the more important historical events that have affected this area:
- Circa -2500: The Karhyri of Sfyri manage to colonize Kald by means of sublight starships. They find the remains of a crashed Hiver vessel on the planet.
- Within 50 years the Karhyri are able to build crude Jump-capable vessels.
- -2390: The founders of the Mercantile Concord leave Terra.
- Circa -2000: The "empty odyssey" of the Karhyri charts much of rimward Crucis Margin as it moves trailing in search of the Hivers.
- (-1776 to 0): The Long Night.
- The Gold Union forms at some unknown point on the Crucis Margin-Numbis border. It will in time apparently become the Amalgamation Union.
- -150: Syzlin, formerly a rebellious world of the now defunct Kaiter Hegemony, begins to expand and takes full control of its cluster as the Syzlin Empire.
- The Year 0: To spinward, the Third Imperium is founded.
- 280: The Katowice Conquest is established on Katowice when a group of ambitious naval commanders from the Old Worlds navy break away.
- 300-420: The Imperial First Survey.
- Some ships of the Survey go missing in the region. Fragmentary reports suggest that the Amalgamation ("Gold") Union is destabilizing.
- Circa 500: The Syzlin Empire peaks at 24 systems.
- 722: An alliance of Ranua and Turku forms the Turku-Ranua Guaranteed Trade Corridor, commonly known as The Reach.
- 778: A rebellion on Osaka triggers the partial collapse of the Syzlin Empire, reducing it to six systems.
- Circa 800: A wave of reform sweeps through the remaining Syzlin Empire systems. A brief but bitter civil war results in a republic replacing the empire.
- 995 to 1065: The Imperial Second Survey.
- There is no sign of the Amalgamation Union, aside from common architectural themes in old capital buildings and monuments.
