Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Ranua is a Big World between 15,200km and 16,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1.1G and 1.5G. The horizon will appear about 5.7km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Ranua has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Ranua has 85-95% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few small continents, and a number of islands and archipelagos. Dry land is limited. Wilderness refueling is possible.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

In 722, an alliance of Ranua and Turku created the Turku-Ranua Guaranteed Trade Corridor, known even by its own people as The Reach.

Ranua is host to a sizeable enclave of Droyne, originally from the Oytrip of Tubroyllufotyusk.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Ranua has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Ranua has a population of 30,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

World Demographics[edit]

Droyne organise themselves into oytripin, which consist of multiple tyafelmin and dreskayin, and can produce kroylosses.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The following languages are most commonly heard:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Ranua possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Ranua is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.

All five worlds of The Reach are self-governing, but contribute funds and forces to the Reach Conclave, which includes representatives from all worlds in proportion to their economic importance. It is based at the orbital cityport of Turkan Ima, in the Turku system.

World Law Level (L)[edit]

Ranua has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).

World Economy (Ex)[edit]

This world's economic measurements are: B6D+4
