Subsector N of Crucis Margin Sector.

Description[edit]

The coreward systems in Taitin are generally part of the extensive Tsavo Reach or claimed by the Syzlin Republic, which doesn't dare attempt annexing systems along the Reach, for fear of raising the ire of every government that trades along that main.

Summary[edit]

Taitin, subsector N of Crucis Margin, contains 21 worlds with an estimated combined population of 1 billion, a per capita income of Cr1,913, and a total economy of BCr2,976. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr14 through 16 starports (2 Class A, 1 Class B, 7 Class C, 6 Class D) employing 3,145 people. Driving this interstellar trade are three Agricultural (Ag) worlds, three Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, one Pre-Agricultural (Pa) world, seven Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, three Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Taitin maintain one Naval base. The average technology level is 7 (with most between 6 and 9). The highest technology level is 11 at Stefen (Crucis Margin 1135).

Taitin, subsector N of Crucis Margin contains 30 stars and 234 identified planets; 15 monostellar systems, three binary systems, three trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 13 of the 21 systems (61%) have native gas giants. There are two Asteroid (As) belts, no Desert (De) worlds, no Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, four Poor (Po) worlds, three Vacuum (Va) worlds, and three Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Taitin has an estimated population of 1 billion distributed across no High population (Hi) worlds, three Moderate population (Ph) worlds, ten Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, one Low population (Lo) world, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Hzimo (Crucis Margin 1537), Stefen (Crucis Margin 1135), and Pelly (Crucis Margin 1233). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont groups.

The Syzlin Republic has jurisdiction over eight worlds within this subsector, with an estimated combined population of 803 million, a per capita income of Cr2,718, and a total economy of BCr2,183. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr4 through 7 starports (1 Class A, 0 Class B, 3 Class C, 3 Class D) employing 1,400 people. Driving this interstellar trade are two Agricultural (Ag) worlds, one Non-Agricultural (Na) world, one Pre-Agricultural (Pa) world, five Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The average technology level is 7 (with most between 5 and 9). The highest technology level is 11 at Stefen (Crucis Margin 1135).

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The subsector, in particular the rimward systems and the Tsavo Reach, were charted by the Karhyri during their historic journey to return Hiver bodies recovered from a crashed ship. Many worlds still have Karhyr names.

Timeline[edit]

Significant events that have affected this subsector include the following:

  • Circa -2000: The "empty odyssey" of the Karhyri charts the subsector as it moves trailing, entering at Meshed.
  • Deep in the Long Night: Just over the spinward border in Syzlin Subsector, the eponymous Syzlin, a subject world of the short-lived Kaiter Hegemony, gains control of a small fleet of starships in a military rebellion. These ships are used to drive Kaiter forces from the local cluster.
  • -150: Syzlin begins to expand and takes full control of its cluster as the Syzlin Empire.
  • Circa 500: The Syzlin Empire peaks at 24 systems.
  • 778: A rebellion on Osaka triggers the partial collapse of the Syzlin Empire, reducing it to six systems.
  • Circa 800: A wave of reform sweeps through the remaining Syzlin Empire systems. A brief but bitter civil war results in a republic replacing the empire.
  • Circa 950: The Syzlin Republic, itself expanding, controls 14 systems, some of which joined mostly voluntarily and some of which were conquered.
