Subsector M of Crucis Margin Sector.

Description[edit]

This subsector is very sparsely settled. There are less than 4 billion sophonts within its borders, and three quarters of these are on Sfyri, a racial homeworld.

Summary[edit]

Syzlin, subsector M of Crucis Margin contains 17 worlds with an estimated population of 3 billion, a per capita income of Cr2,743, and a total economy is BCr9,775. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr127 through 12 starports (4 Class A, 3 Class B, 1 Class C, 4 Class D) employing 36,435 people. Driving this interstellar trade are four Agricultural (Ag) worlds, one Non-Agricultural (Na) world, two Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, three Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Syzlin maintain two Naval bases. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 5 and 10). The highest technology level is 12 at Syzlin (Crucis Margin 0831).

Syzlin, subsector M of Crucis Margin contains 26 stars and 173 identified planets; nine monostellar systems, seven binary systems, one trinary system, and no systems with four or more stars. 12 of the 17 systems (70%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, one Desert (De) world, two Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, four Poor (Po) worlds, two Vacuum (Va) worlds, and one Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) world.

Syzlin has an estimated population of 3 billion distributed across one High population (Hi) world, two Moderate population (Ph) worlds, eight Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, two Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Sfyri (Crucis Margin 0439). The population consists of 2 sophont groups including one native sophont.

Non-Aligned, Human-dominated[edit]

There are eight Non-Aligned Human-dominated worlds in Syzlin with an estimated population of 120 million.

Karhyri Worlds[edit]

The Karhyri Worlds has jurisdiction over six worlds with an estimated population of 3 billion, a per capita income of Cr2,836, and a total economy is BCr9,481. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr102 through 6 starports (2 Class A, 2 Class B, 0 Class C, 2 Class D) employing 27,270 people. Driving this interstellar trade are two Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Karhyri Worlds maintain one Naval base. The average technology level is 9 (with most between 7 and 11). The highest technology level is 11 at Sora (Crucis Margin 0238) and Sfyri (Crucis Margin 0439).

The Karhyri Worlds has an estimated population of 3 billion distributed across one High population (Hi) world, one Moderate population (Ph) world, two Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, one Low population (Lo) world, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Sfyri (Crucis Margin 0439). The population consists of 1 sophont groups including one native sophont.

Syzlin Republic[edit]

The Syzlin Republic has jurisdiction over three worlds with an estimated population of 101 million, a per capita income of Cr1,306, and a total economy is BCr132. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr19 through 2 starports (1 Class A, 1 Class B, 0 Class C, 0 Class D) employing 8,180 people. Driving this interstellar trade are two Agricultural (Ag) worlds, one Non-Agricultural (Na) world, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, one Pre-Industrial (Pi) world, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Syzlin Republic maintain one Naval base.

The Syzlin Republic has an estimated population of 101 million distributed across no High population (Hi) worlds, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, one Non-industrial (Ni) world, no Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Aldrikin (Crucis Margin 0736) and Syzlin (Crucis Margin 0831). The population consists of 1 sophont groups.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Following the collapse of the Syzlin Empire circa 800 Imperial, the Syzlin Republic inherited many of its worlds.

The other notable power here is the peaceable -- if staunchly inflexible -- Karhyri Worlds, the polity of the Karhyri race, who recovered the jump drive from a downed Hiver craft.

Timeline[edit]

Significant events that have affected this subsector include the following:

  • Circa -2500: The Karhyri manage to colonize Kald by means of sublight starships. They find the remains of a crashed Hiver vessel on the planet.
    • Within 50 years the Karhyri are able to build crude Jump-capable vessels.
  • Deep in the Long Night: Syzlin, a subject world of the short-lived Kaiter Hegemony, gains control of a small fleet of starships in a military rebellion. These ships are used to drive Kaiter forces from the local cluster.
  • -150: Syzlin begins to expand and takes full control of its cluster as the Syzlin Empire.
  • Circa 500: The Syzlin Empire peaks at 24 systems.
  • 778: A rebellion on Osaka triggers the partial collapse of the Syzlin Empire, reducing it to six systems.
  • Circa 800: A wave of reform sweeps through the remaining Syzlin Empire systems. A brief but bitter civil war results in a republic replacing the empire.
  • Circa 950: The Syzlin Republic, itself expanding, controls 14 systems, some of which joined mostly voluntarily and some of which were conquered.
  • 987: Republican forces cross the Pavlet Deep to assault and capture the virtually worthless world of Aldrikin, to interstellar confusion.
