Sora is a low-population vacuum world, with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts, warranting hazardous environment precautions.

  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • It is a member of the Karhyri Worlds in the Syzlin Subsector of Crucis Margin Sector.
  • Nearly 100% of the population is composed of Karhyri.
  • Less than 10% of the population is composed of humans and other non-human sophonts.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Sora is a Small World between 2,400km and 4,000km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.1G and 0.17G. The horizon will appear about 2.5km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Sora has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Sora has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

World Starport (St)[edit]

Sora has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Sora has population of 500 sophonts (hundreds).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.

World Demographics[edit]

The inhabitants are Karhyri, employees of an interstellar business registered to the Karhyri Worlds.

World Languages[edit]

  • Karhyr: The common Karhyri language.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Sora possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Sora is governed by a Corporate Polity, having a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. Essentially, this is a "company town" (or world). The typical corporate-run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families, including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.

Law[edit]

Laws (in the form of accepted customs, modes of behaviour and "debts of honor") are strict in the Karhyri Worlds, but society seems content with this well-ordered existence.

World Culture[edit]

Karhyri have a socially-oriented caste system (distinct from their biological caste system, though members of each genetic caste are typically found in certain social castes). Integrity and personal honour are essential to their culture.
