Cytrialin Unity (Polity): Entwined culturally, and to some degree biologically, the human-derived Lamura Teg and their small, spidery-legged, alien counterparts, the Lamura Gav (collectively, just the "Lamura"), have built a technologically advanced culture from the ruins of a hostile world which was originally home to neither race.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Cytrialin Unity was founded approximately four millennia ago. The exact date is lost to time. The facts surrounding its founding are well documented in the Books of Cytrialin that every Lamura carries with them.
- The founders arrive on Cytrial aboard a ship bearing that name. They were Vilani or related to the Vilani in origin.
- Their ship was lost, forcing them to remain on this world.
- Their new world was very dissimilar to ones they normally colonized. This caused problems with raising adequate food.
- The colonists also encountered a wild species of large spider-like creatures that were both vicious and cunning. These were a race thought to originally be native to Cikuek, and transplanted to other worlds in the region, possibly by the Ancients.
- Between survival problems the colonists were decimated.
- What changed and saved them was their developing a empathic connection to the spider-like beings, who became known as the Lamura Gav. This empathic ability to read each other's feelings, even some thoughts, bound the two races together and became the basis of the Cytrialin Unity.
Society and Outlook[edit]
Though anatomically dissimilar, the two races' dependence and understanding of each other has given them a uniquely liberal perspective on the nature of the universe. They view the universe as an open cycle of resources, with each aspect being part of the greater whole.
- This view has led to their great respect for life and the environment. As one passage of the Cytrialin says, "I breathe in the body of my descendants while standing upon that of my ancestors." The Lamura have great respect for all races, based on "the common thread which has built the fabric of our societies."
- Most members of the Cytrialin Unity are seldom found without one of the Books of Cytrialin — a collection of passages and phrases which detail the outlook of the Lamura races.
- The Lamura take great pride in quoting appropriate passages from the Books of Cytrialin.
Gav and Teg will always be found together. Lamura Gav separate from Lamura Teg can be very dangerous to encounter. A Cytrialin would explain this from their writings as "Gav and Teg bring balance. One cannot maintain balance without the other."
- This seemingly fanatical devotion to their faith has led many in the Imperium to label them as religious fanatics, although the Cytrialin is better described as a philosophy of life, as it is void of strict dogma, ceremony, or supernatural deities.
- The Lamura often embark on pilgrimages of life, seeking greater understanding of the universe.
- For a Cytrialin, visiting all 8 Pillars of Cytrial (see below) is often a lifetime goal.
- Cytrialin merchant shipping will generally offer free passage to Lamura on pilgrimages wherever they are encountered.
- Lamura pilgrims will generally travel in small groups and will only take the barest necessities along with their books of Cytrialin with them.
The Lamura are generally pacifist, like Hivers, and get along well with the them. The two have traits that they find mutually beneficial.
- Hivers tend to be curious and intellectual; Lamura tend to be empathic and philosophical. The result is that the two races interact in a way that satisfies both socially.

It should be noted, that while the Cytrialin Unity has a considerable collection of TL16+ items in varying number on virtually every world within the polity, these are almost universally regarded as akin to religious relics. They can be found in the possession of the numerous shrines and meditation centers that are found on Cytrialin worlds.
- Because of the sheer number of these artifacts on Cytrial (world), it has been declared a red zone for travel by the IISS and TAS to help protect them from potential looting by those seeking to exploit the technology represented.
