History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The new capital of the Cytrialin Unity, this world and its large population are developing neighbouring systems as part of the Unity's nascent Alike Trade Cluster.

Alike is located about halfway between the Lamura homeworld of Cikuek and their cultural centre at Cytrial.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Alike has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Alike has a population of 6,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).

World Demographics[edit]

Lamura, consisting of the human Lamura Teg and the non-human Lamura Gav.

  • Hivers, Karhyri and others form minority communities, collectively making up 20% of the population.

World Languages[edit]

The Cytrialin language is a derived form of an old Vilani dialect.

World Economy[edit]

Economic Extension (Ex):

  • Resources: TBD (TBD)
    • (Resources are any materials available for processing and exploitation. They include natural resources, minerals, ores, metals, energy sources, biological assets, and any other materials of limited availability.)
  • Labor: TBD (TBD)
    • (Labor is the workforce available for the processing and exploitation of Resources.)
  • Infrastructure: TBD (TBD)
    • (Infrastructure is the established technical structures that support exploitation of resources. Infrastructure includes roads, power grids, communications, and factories.)
  • Efficiency" +/-TBD (TBD)
    • (Efficiency reflects the current economic system, and includes sensible legal procedures, appropriate tariffs, customs promoting a balanced work ethic, rewards for merit, and social structures which match ability and job. Negative Efficiency is worse. Efficiency at -1 or less turn the RUs available negative: the Inefficiencies are so destructive as to make the economy a net drain. Such barriers represent a welfare state; cultural influences which do not value wealth, even physical limitations. On the other hand, since some economies have positive efficiencies: positive multipliers increasing available RU. )

Economic Extension:

  • (The Economic Extension (Ex) is the strength of a world economy and provides basic insights into the economy’s structure and capabilities.)
  • Resource Units- +/-TBD
    • (The world's budget.)

Trade Data[edit]

Alike is a major hub of trade, not only within the Cytrialin Unity. The Alike Run trade route connects Alike to Imperial territory, passing through the Anubian Trade Coalition to spinward. The world sees major traffic from Imperial, Solomani, Hiver and even K'kree traders.

World Culture[edit]

Cultural Extension (Cx):

  • Homogeneity: TBD (TBD)
    • (Homogeneity is a measure of the degree to which members of society hold common beliefs. Members of very homogeneous cultures are in strong agreement on the fundamentals of society (usually basic rights, religion, and methods of interaction). Members of non-homogeneous cultures hold many different beliefs on the fundamentals of society.)
  • Acceptance: TBD (TBD)
    • (Acceptance is the degree of xenophobia ( or xenophilia ) in the culture. High Acceptance is evidenced by friendliness to outsiders and offworlders; Low Acceptance is characterized by fear or rejection of outsiders.)
  • Strangeness: TBD (TBD)
    • (Strangeness is the degree of difference from the norms of interstellar society. High Strangeness is evidenced by unusual or outwardly incomprehensible actions, statements, or responses in the course daily activity. Low Strangeness reflects activities close to interstellar norms.)
  • Symbols: TBD (TBD)
    • (Symbols used by the culture may range from the concrete (idols; totems; statuary) to the abstract (symbolized belief systems; group affiliations).)

The guiding philosophy of the Lamura people is a lengthy work called the Cytrialin. The Cytrialin is both a rough and biased history of the Lamura peoples as well as a complex system of ethics and morality, alongside a compilation of practical advice for life. Because so many of the Lamura are noted for reading or quoting the Cytrialin when in distress or seeking answers to a difficult problem, they have gained a reputation for being fanatics and impractical mystics, though the text is noted for genuinely effective systems for practical problem solving.
