System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Trill is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Trill has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Trill has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Trill is a balkanised industrial world with a high population and a near Terran-prime biosphere: during the Long Night it was a technologically advanced agricultural world with a well-developed industrial base. Travellers will find it a long and frustrating process to cross borders on the world, and often a visit to one nation will preclude a visit to certain others.

As Gushemege sunk into the Long Night Trill's neighbouring system, Unlardigard, a heavily populated world, found itself on the brink of starvation, as its minimal native life offered little sustenance and its hydroponic gardens were prone to failure. Trill extracted a high price for its assistance, using it as leverage to assume the position of overlord. This in turn drove Unlardigardian innovation, with local jury-rigged solutions to problems preferred rather than being forced to beg for Trillian aid. However, as the Night deepened, Trill's higher technology began to fail, and it became increasingly dependent on resourceful Unlardigardian technologists to maintain vital systems and equipment.

In -1309 the two worlds signed the Treaty of Plutand, settling old scores, pledging mutual aid and support, and forming the Plutand Economic Union. Using Trillian materials and produce and Unlardigardian know-how, the Union was able to reach out to a few other populated worlds in the region, including Xanten, Glipli, and Zanish, largely to secure resources. It was able to sustain a well supported TL–10 for most of the Long Night and was eventually absorbed by the expanding Third Imperium during the first century. Trill was the Union's de facto capital.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Trill has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

There are two orbital starports, each run by a different grouping of nations, and three nations have Class A dirtside facilities, most others having B or C class starports.

World Population (P)[edit]

Trill has a population of 3,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).

World Languages[edit]

The following languages are most commonly heard:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Trill possesses a Technology Level of TL–14 or TL-E in Hexadecimal Notation.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early meson communicators.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, early collectors, and advanced fusion plants.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:

World Government (G)[edit]

Trill has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

  • There are 15 major nations, each with a population of about 100 million. Each has its own distinct culture and all jealously guard their own independence.

Trill's nations are particularly sensitive about border incursions. Military campaigns and even pitched battles between belligerent states extremely carefully respect the borders of third party nations, or risk retaliation by the offended country and alienation from the other states present on the world.

World Law (L)[edit]

Trill has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Imperial Landed Nobility (N)[edit]

Trill, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the estate and fiefdom of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: 3 (ordinary)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: H (extremely abundant)
  • Labor: 8 (hundreds of millions)
  • Infrastructure: F (very comprehensive)
  • Efficiency: +3 (improved)

World Culture[edit]

  • Heterogenity: 9 (discordant)
  • Acceptance: C (xenophilic)
  • Strangeness: 5 (distinct)
  • Symbols: E (extremely abstract)

World Timeline[edit]

A basic chart showing the borders of the Plutand Economic Union, circa -1000. (Chart sourced from Traveller Map).
