Salinaikin Concordance
The Salinaikin Concordance is a polity that straddles the border between Far Frontiers and Yiklerzdanzh Sectors.
- It covers parts of Akigura and Antideluvia Subsectors.
- It attempts to maintain strict neutrality.

Description (Specifications)[edit]
Nominally coming under under the governance of the Colonnade Administrative District at the beginning of the 7th century, the worlds of the region gained self-determination in the middle of the 8th century. The Concordance came into existence in 753 and had reached its current size by the early 1000s. It is possibly the last truly neutral state in Far Frontiers Sector: most of the other polities within the region are effectively clients of either the Third Imperium or the Zhodani Consulate.
Over the course of three and a half centuries of existence, the Concordance has retained its neutrality and maintained generally good relations with all its neighbors. Though it falls under the so-called Zhodani Shadow, it strives to avoid Zhodani domination.
Government & Politics[edit]
The Salinaikin Concordance is a confederation of worlds under the guidance of an elected council, with the council's membership drawn from among the leaders of its various member worlds.
The individual planets in the Concordance remain free to develop as they please and may also freely make agreements and understandings with other member worlds that entirely bypass the Concordance authorities. Although many prefer to be as self-sufficient as possible, others choose specialization.
The Concord[edit]
The Concord, formally titled The Unanimous Declaration of the Concord of Salinaikin, is the founding document of the Salinaikin Concordance. It lays out the rights of citizens and also what expectations the state has of them, the nature of governmental authority, and the limits of governmental power.
- Worlds that are signatory to the Concord agree to provide both manpower and materials towards its defense.
- An unprovoked attack on any member world is considered an attack on all member worlds.
Individual worlds may choose to provide more than the minimum materiel amount required by the Concordance -- this is most commonly done to win influence, power, and a place on the ruling council.
Goals[edit]
- Regional stability (with a generally neutral stance).
- Good relations with all nearby interstellar states, in order to foster trade.
- Guarantee of interstellar trade and commerce.
- Protection from expansionist or aggressive neighbors.
Military & Intelligence[edit]
The Joint Defense Fleet serves to ensure the state's safety and to guarantee trade within its borders. The fleet is headquartered at the central naval facility in the asteroid belt at Manchu (Far Frontiers 0425).
Despite the general peace, there are still some tensions around and within the Concordance borders, such as the rivalry between the Tannerite and Drakian state religions.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
In 576, the Colonnade Administrative District was formed and began to integrate itself into the political and commercial structure of both Akigura Subsector in Yiklerzdanzh Sector and Antideluvia Subsector in Far Frontiers, declaring the latter to be part of its official territory in the early 600s -- a situation tolerated only because of the huge economic and commercial benefits it brought.
The Antideluvia region was individualistic and unruly and proved increasingly hard to govern, and the economic advantages presented by inclusion in the Administrative District had faded within a few brief decades. As the Administrative District grew politically and culturally closer to the Zhodani, fears grew that the subsector was going to be absorbed into the Consulate, joining the two states. Around 750 the Antideluvian worlds seceded from the Administrative District.
Small groups of newly independent worlds begin banding together for trade and mutual defense. Kalel Escott Salinaikin, a noted political thinker and the founder of the respected Salinaikin Institute of Knowledge, brought these disparate worlds together in a council which convened on Acropolis. After deliberations that lasted months, Salinaikin drew up the Concord, a complex but elegant document that formed the foundation of the Concordance. It guaranteed mutual assistance and support in the event of outside aggression, contained trade and commercial understandings, and served to halt the slow expansion of the Consulate. Salinaikin actually passed away two months before the Convention was formally ratified, but his name lives on, not only in the name of the state, but in that of the asteroid belt where the capital is located.
Culture[edit]
The Concordance lies within the Zhodani Shadow, a region strongly influenced by the society and culture of the Zhodani Consulate.
- The Concordance goes out of its way to avoid becoming too "Zhodanified".
Symbols[edit]
The symbol of the Concordance is four stars of varying sizes, with the largest located centrally.
- It represents the four small clusters of stars and worlds that together form the state.
Demographics[edit]
The following sophont races are found within the Concordance:
- Humaniti (Human Races):
- Mixed Heritage. Individuals of uncertain origin or heritage, often treated as an underclass.
- Solomani of Terra (Major Race). Ethnic Solomani form the majority of the Concordance's population.
- Vlazhdumecta of Afachtiabr Sector (Minor Human Race). Individuals and families of Vlazhdumecta heritage hold most of the wealth and power in the state.
- Non-Human Races:
- Droyne of Eskayloyt (Major Race).
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The following languages are among the most commonly used within this astrographic region:
- Riftian Anglic: A dialect of one of the two primary languages of the Imperium.
- Oynprith: A ceremonial and ritualistic language apparently universal among Droyne communities.
- Vlazhdumecta: The language of the Vlazhdumecta people. Many dialects exist.
- Zdetl: The language of the Zhodani and the Zhodani Consulate. It is widely spoken within the Zhodani Shadow.

- No worlds, but the Concordance claims territorial rights over empty interstellar hex Wulfek 0131.
- It is rumored that the Concordance has found a gas giant rogue world within the hex.
- Alternatively, the hex may be claimed in order to extend the Concordance's political footprint into Wulfek Subsector, if only symbolically.
Yiklerzdanzh Sector, Akigura Subsector:
- Flieporshe (Yiklerzdanzh 3126): A colony of Torgol
- Iiash (Yiklerzdanzh 3022): Interdicted, barren
