Kiirkhiim is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Salinaikin Concordance in the Akigura Subsector of Yiklerzdanzh Sector.
- It is a balmy tropical world, with a climate of high temperatures.
- This world-system has a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces, which may be located on or off-world.
- It is a system with an incorrectly classified primary star.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Kiirkhiim is a binary star system.
- The primary is a red main sequence.
- The secondary is a white dwarf stellar remnant

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been partially surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- An unknown number of secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Kiirkhiim has a slow rotation period: one local day is equivalent to 2.7 standard days (65 standard hours).
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
- It receives higher levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits beyond the star's Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Kiirkhiim is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Kiirkhiim has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.
- It experiences high temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Kiirkhiim has 75-85% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few large continents and extensive islands. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Satellites[edit]
Kiirkhiim retains three small vacuum moons.
- They orbit once every few weeks.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- Native lifeforms are thermophilic - they thrive in high temperatures.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
During the early 700s many worlds within the neighboring Antideluvia Subsector of Far Frontiers Sector became increasingly fearful of annexation into the Zhodani Consulate. The leaders of planets across the region came together in a council, which convened on Acropolis, and after deliberation that lasted months ratified the declaration of the Salinaikin Concordance. It guaranteed mutual assistance and support in the event of outside aggression and served to halt the slow expansion of the Consulate.
(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)
By the mid 700s the state was extant and expanding - seeing the benefits it offered, Kirkhiim became a member in the early 900s. By the early 1000s the Concordance had reached its present size.
- The Concordance was named for Kalel Escott Salinaikin, its chief architect.
Misidentified Star[edit]
The primary star is listed on Imperial star charts as a white dwarf stellar remnant.
In actuality it is a red main sequence.
A number of systems within the subsector have stars that have been given incorrect stellar designations on star charts, almost always being misreported as white dwarfs.
- This consistent error appears to date back to the time of the Imperial First Survey.
- Some authorities claim that it was a deliberate large scale effort to discourage interest in the region.
Ongoing study by the IISS has revealed the error, but this occurred after the publication of the Imperial Second Survey.
- Verified data confirming the exact nature of the star would command premium prices.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Kiirkhiim has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- The world is host to a major Military Base.
World Population (P)[edit]
Kiirkhiim has a population of 40,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Kiirkhiim possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-2.
World Government (G)[edit]
Kiirkhiim is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions within the government. These positions are inherited by members of the group or by their relatives. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.
World Law (L)[edit]
Kiirkhiim has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
World Timeline[edit]

- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
