Merope is a rich, agricultural world with improving living conditions due to a bustling agro-economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- This world is rich with high-grade living conditions, a good climate, and a non-harmful environment. Immigration registration for this world is always in high demand.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Firdausi Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.
- It is a member of the Palermo Cluster.
- A little under 10% of the population consists of Dolphins.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Merope has a solitary primary star known as Sisyphus.
- It is a yellow main sequence.
Note: The system's primary star is not the canonical B type late main sequence star Merope, though it is in the same local area of space and likely lends the world its name.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x10 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
- x3 gas giants.
Braci, a secondary world orbiting in the outer part of the habitable zone, features a few large mining camps located atop the most promising mineral deposits.
The stony Corinthian Belt, which marks the edge of the cold outer system, is the location of Boutak City, one of the system's main spaceports and trade hubs.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Merope orbits within the prime region of its star's habitable zone.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Merope is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Merope has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Merope has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Merope is a member of the Palermo Cluster, a small but important trade route lying close to the coreward-trailing edge of Aldebaran Sector.
The mainworld itself is not very important, but the system as a whole is the center of the Cluster's raw materials extraction industry.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Merope has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Merope has a population of 20,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).
- More than 90% of the population (in excess of 18 million individuals) is made up of Solomani humans.
- Less than 10% of the population (fewer than 2 million individuals) consists of Dolphins.
Urbanization[edit]
Small cities are dispersed around the globe; each has its own small spaceport.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Delphinic Trinary, the principal language of Dolphins.
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Merope possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fission power generation, advanced water and wind generation of electricity.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, early ATV's, and dedicated AFV's.
- Water: Amphibious vehicles, improved submersibles, and early SCUBA gear.
- Air: Early jet aircraft and rotorcraft VTOL's.
- Space: Early unmanned rocket delivery systems and early manned orbital rockets.
World Government (G)[edit]
Merope is governed by a Charismatic Dictatorship. Charismatic governments justify their ability to rule by simply asserting their right to rule. Charismatic dictatorships are typically young governments, coming as a recent change, and rely on the leader(s) to supply head of government.
There is some nationalist feeling among communities within the Merope system, mainly directed at gaining a higher proportion of the system's income. It is currently disorganized.
World Law (L)[edit]
Merope has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 0 (unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 8 (moderate)
- Labor: 6 (millions)
- Infrastructure: 7 (generally available)
- Efficiency: -5 (extremely poor)
World Culture[edit]
Associations and businesses of all kinds have their own business uniforms, formal dress being simply a more elaborate and less practical variant.
- Heterogenity: 9 (discordant)
- Acceptance: 7 (aloof)
- Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
- Symbols: 4 (concrete)
