Mancilla is a nonindustrial vacuum world, which warrants hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Keum Subsector of Massilia Sector in the Domain of Sylea.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- It is a member of the Keum Cluster region of the Greater Massilia Main.
- During the Long Night it was a full member of the Rebin Empire.
- At the founding of the Imperium this world was known as Nimluu.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Mancilla is a binary star system.
- Both are red main sequence stars.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x5 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Mancilla is a Small World between 900km and 2,400km in diameter. The world has very low gravity between 0.05G and 0.09G. The horizon will appear about 2km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Mancilla has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Mancilla has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Mancilla is a member of the Keum Cluster region of the Greater Massilia Main, a major Main and important trade route lying across parts of Massilia Sector and Zarushagar Sector.
The Rebin Empire[edit]
During the Long Night Mancilla was a full member of the Rebin Empire. It had a matriarchal government and social structure and firmly enforced strict gender roles. It carefully monitored less enlightened worlds in the region and used its status to make decisions on their behalf. The Empire gradually disintegrated in the centuries before the founding of the Third Imperium, with interstellar trade slowly dying off and some of the worlds it had overseen becoming depopulated.
- Most worlds that were members of the Empire still have a strong Rebin cultural flavor.
- The Rebin Empire was generally considered a force for good and most former member worlds are proud of their association with it.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Mancilla has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Mancilla has a population of 30,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
Locals speak with a distinctive Rebin accent.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Mancilla possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-4.
World Government (G)[edit]
Mancilla is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
During the Long Night Mancilla had a matriarchal government, with all offices of state and positions of authority controlled by females.
World Law (L)[edit]
Mancilla has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Portable energy weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
The world has many laws regarding gender status and gender roles, which generally subjugate males. The punishments for transgressions or committing offenses are particularly draconian.
- These laws are an anachronism from the Rebin Empire.
- There is an active equal rights movement.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Mancilla, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 1 (ordinary)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: B (abundant)
- Labor: 3 (thousands)
- Infrastructure: 4 (very limited)
- Efficiency: -3 (poor)
World Culture[edit]
The world retains a strongly matriarchal culture. As well as inequality in pay and recompense, males often find that opportunities and roles open to females are not available to them. Males may find it hard to get service or representation without a female escort to speak on their behalf. Visiting males are expected to adhere to the world's social norms and face the same penalties as locals if they break them.
- Heterogenity: 1 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 5 (very aloof)
- Strangeness: 1 (very typical)
- Symbols: 9 (somewhat abstract)
