Ladon is a low-population world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in size.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Ladon is a trinary star system.

  • The primary is a yellow main sequence.
  • The secondary is a red main sequence.
  • The tertiary is a red main sequence.
Ladon has three stars in the star system.

Notes[edit]

The primary-secondary binary pair have an average separation of 25 AU and orbit a barycenter that lies between them.

The tertiary star lies approximately 550 AU from the primary-secondary binary pair and orbits a barycenter that lies between it and them.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

  • The mainworld, orbiting the primary star.
  • x10 secondary rocky worlds. Three orbit the primary star, three orbit the secondary star, four orbit the tertiary star.
  • x4 gas giants. Three orbit the primary star, one orbits the tertiary star.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Ladon orbits within the prime region of its star's habitable zone.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Ladon is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Ladon has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Ladon has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Ladon is a Forbidden World and is designated as a Red Zone. It presents serious risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that make it extremely dangerous to visitors.

  • Travel to this world is prohibited.

Native Sophont[edit]

It is the homeworld of a recently discovered aquatic sophont Minor Race colloquially referred to as Squiddies. Almost nothing is known of them except that they inhabit the benthic zones of their worlds seas. Most authorities agree that there are likely to be large numbers of unrecorded natives living on the vast seabeds of the world.

  • Squiddies appear to have known about humans for a long time, but have chosen not to make contact.
  • They were accidentally discovered by a resource survey team prospecting for seabed minerals.

There are few reliable images or descriptions of the race. Almost nothing is known about their physiology, psychology, culture, or lifespan.

  • Any details or images that exist should be considered unreliable.

Although it lies within the territory of the Confederation, the world is not officially a member of that state, choosing instead to remain as a technically neutral world. Despite its neutral status, it relies on the Confederation for trade and defense and actively cooperates with Solomani interests.

Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Solomani State and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, while a few see it as an act of duty to help protect the the State and its interests.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Ladon does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.

World Population (P)[edit]

Unknown Sophont 01.jpg

Ladon has population of 200 sophonts (hundreds).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
  • The known population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.
  • There are probably very large numbers of so-called Squiddies inhabiting the ocean depths and seabeds.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly heard languages are:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Ladon possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.

World Government (G)[edit]

Ladon is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.

World Law (L)[edit]

Ladon has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Portable energy weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
