Drilat is a barren vacuum world with no overt population, government, or law level.

  • These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death.
  • This world could be populated if anyone had an inclination to do so...
  • It is a member of the Solomani Preserve in the Warding Beak Subsector of Thaku Fung Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

The majority of worlds in the Imperium and beyond, officially at least, do not yet know of the existence of the Solomani Preserve – the Preserve has gone to great lengths to keep its presence concealed. According to the most up-to-date Imperial AAB Library Data, drawn from long-range surveys dated to around 1100, this is a barren, non-aligned, unclaimed world lying in an uninhabited wilderness region on the very edge of Charted Space. On most official Imperial records its UWP is listed as:

Thaku Fung 1508 X300000-0 Ba Va 003 NaXX M2 V D D

Note that the Solomani Preserve established formal relations with the Imperium in 1105, via the Imperial Scout Base at Geokha. This included an exchange of data, including each Preserve member system's updated Universal World Profile. It is likely to be years or decades before this new information is collated and fully disseminates across Charted Space: until then, many AAB databases will continue to include the outdated pre-1105 survey data.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Drilat is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Drilat has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Drilat has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

No known native life.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Drilat is a Die Back World. Over the centuries, various outposts have been located on this world. Some have served as military or scientific facilities, while others were the sites of survey bases or resource extraction operations. Some have long been derelict while others were abandoned or deliberately shut down as the local population evacuated ahead of the approaching Empress Wave. In such cases, for whatever reason, the former residents have not returned.

  • These are favorite locations for adventurers and treasure seekers, among others. A wealth of valuable artifacts can be found by those willing to skirt laws which assert that the state or an organization has possession of such objects, rather than the individual who recovered them.

The system's star experiences periodic bouts of flare activity, which causes interference, strange tones and noises, and heavy static on commo and sensors.

It is a Danger World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.

  • Visitors are advised to act with caution.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Drilat does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.

World Population (P)[edit]

Drilat is a Barren World with no sophont population. It may still possess lifeforms.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Drilat has a die back Tech Level of TL–0: the buildings, facilities and infrastructure that exist on the world have largely been stripped of valuable materials and machinery, remaining as empty shells ready to be refurbished. Some structures have become derelict or collapsed.

  • The world has no functioning technological base.

Salvage

  • Basic raw materials such as worked stone. There may be concealed caches of equipment, manufactured items, or supplies carefully stored away for future usage.

World Government (G)[edit]

Drilat has no government or ruling authority of any kind.

World Law (L)[edit]

Drilat has no law level. No laws of any kind are enforced.

World Timeline[edit]

Major events that have affected this world and the wider region that it lies within:

Later Historical Eras[edit]

In general, "Later Historical Eras" refers to events that occur post-1116 – a date that marks the beginning of the Rebellion, which ultimately led to the collapse of the Third Imperium. The year 1116 is seen as a historical dividing line, as it were, between the old and the new.

The Imperial Rebellion and its consequences were largely meaningless on the far coreward edge of Charted Space – for worlds in Thaku Fung Sector the key historical event that marked the divide between the old and the new was the Empress Wave. In this context, "Later Historical Eras" generally refers to the events in the years, decades, and centuries following the passage of the Wave.

  • The Wave entered the coreward edge of the subsector around the year 1040, passing through its territory at a rate of roughly 1 parsec per year, and exited the rimward edge of the subsector around the year 1050. Its effects varied from world to world, but were never good: it left insanity, ecological problems, societal collapse, and death in its wake.
