Chartreuse is a nonindustrial water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Carcosa Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.
- It orbits the system's yellow secondary star.
- It is a balmy tropical world, with a climate of high temperatures.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Chartreuse is a binary star system.
- The primary is a turbulent orange subgiant.
- The secondary is a yellow main sequence.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld, orbiting the systems yellow secondary star.
- x8 secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 planetoid belt.
- x2 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Chartreuse is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Chartreuse has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
- It experiences relatively high temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Chartreuse has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
The world-ocean is generally very deep (averaging around 5 km), with several submerged continental plateaus within it. These continents each have two or three mountain ranges, with the highest peaks creating long lines of isolated islands. There are also significant ice caps at the poles.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant aquatic native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Chartreuse is the subject of a corporate venture. The stated aims are to initially set up a refueling and resupply station, gradually upgrading the facility to create a luxury vacation and spa destination. The timeframe for completing the project is estimated at around a century.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Chartreuse has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Chartreuse has a population of 10,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.
Urbanization[edit]
The citizens here currently are operating and building out the downport, which is located on one of the larger islands near the equator. There are several other habitable islands in the close vicinity, and residential construction is beginning on them.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Euxene French, a Terran language principally spoken in the Euxene Cluster.
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Chartreuse possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
There is a fission reactor site in operation, but little advanced technology is being used at this time.
World Government (G)[edit]
Chartreuse is governed by a Corporate Polity, having a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. Essentially, this is a "company town" (or world). The typical corporate-run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families, including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.
World Law (L)[edit]
Chartreuse has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -3 (very unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 8 (moderate)
- Labor: 3 (thousands)
- Infrastructure: 3 (very limited)
- Efficiency: -4 (very poor)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 6 (harmonious)
- Acceptance: 1 (extremely xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 5 (distinct)
- Symbols: 6 (somewhat concrete)
