Algieba is a low-population vacuum world, with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts, warranting hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Gamma Leonis Subsector of Neworld Sector.
- It is a member of the Belicheki Cluster.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Algieba is a binary star system.
- The primary is a yellow giant named Algieba A (Gamma Leonis A / γ Leonis A).
- The secondary is an orange giant named Algieba B (Gamma Leonis B / γ Leonis B).

Notes[edit]
The two stars of the Algieba system have an average separation of 1.2 AU and orbit a barycenter that lies between them.
- They have an orbital period around one another of approximately 175 standard days.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. All have circumbinary orbits around the two stars. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x3 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Algieba orbits towards the outer edge of the two star's overlapping habitable zones.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Algieba is a Small World between 2,400km and 4,000km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.1G and 0.17G. The horizon will appear about 2.5km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Algieba has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Algieba has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Algieba is a member of the Belicheki Cluster, a large cluster and important trade route lying within the central-coreward part of Neworld Sector.
The system's two huge stars cause interference, strange tones and noises, and heavy static on commo and sensors.
Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Solomani State and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, while many see it as an act of duty to help protect the the State and its interests.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Algieba has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Algieba has a population of 1,000 sophonts (thousands).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.
- The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Algieba possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Algieba is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions within the government. These positions are inherited by members of the group or by their relatives. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.
World Law (L)[edit]
Algieba has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 0 (unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: B (abundant)
- Labor: 2 (hundreds)
- Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
- Efficiency: +2 (good)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 5 (harmonious)
- Acceptance: 3 (xenophobic)
