Perseverans is a low population, fluidic hellworld of less than 10,000 sophonts struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.

  • A fluid world has an oceanic geography consisting of heavily contaminated water or a substance such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquid.
  • Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants.
  • It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Carcosa Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.
  • This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
  • This is a hot world, with a climate of high temperatures.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Perseverans is a binary star system.

  • Both are orange main sequence stars.
Perseverans has two stars in the star system.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Perseverans is tidally locked to the system's primary star.

  • The star is always high in the sky on the bright face, it hangs on horizon in the twilight zone, while the cold dark face is in permanent darkness.
  • The world experiences libration - a regular wobble - as it orbits, causing the star to move in the sky.

It orbits within the inner region of the primary star's habitable zone.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Perseverans is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Perseverans has an Exotic Atmosphere and possesses an unusual gas mix which requires the use of oxygen tanks. Additionally, protective suits, while not necessary, are recommended. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Perseverans has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice heavily tainted with other substances, which makes it dangerous, corrosive, or toxic. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds may be Hell Worlds.

  • The water on the surface may be unsuitable for use or consumption without extensive filtering and purification.
  • Refining for fuel may cause issues with shipboard purification plants.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

Perseverans is tectonically active, and has high mountain ranges and many active volcanoes. It has a liquid ocean of water in a large crater at its northern pole. There are a series of large seas of "tar" spread out over much of the remaining surface. This tar is made up of hydrocarbon chains of molecules 20C or longer. The lighter hydrocarbons have largely vaporized and become the planetary atmosphere.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Perseverans was claimed and named by Captain Jon Smið (sic) of the colony vessel Waiferar (massing over 4000 dTons and rated at Jump-4), as he provided the initial detailed scans.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Perseverans has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

The downport is located next to the northern crater ocean; average temperatures within that region are around 26°C.

A mid-size orbital science facility is in low-mid orbit, using its limited maneuver drive as needed to avoid threats.

World Population (P)[edit]

Perseverans has population of 700 sophonts (hundreds).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
  • The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.

Urbanization[edit]

The science teams operate at various forward observation locations, with their administration remaining at the business office quadrant of the downport. The construction is generally high-temperature-resilient dome constructs to the north, transitioning to high-performance concretes to the south.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly heard languages are:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Perseverans possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Perseverans has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.

World Law (L)[edit]

Perseverans has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.

Trade Data[edit]

World Economy[edit]

World Culture[edit]

The population is a loose federation of science teams.
