History & Background (Dossier)

Campinas is a member of the Zarn Cluster, a backwater cluster and minor trade route principally lying within Canopus Sector.

It was settled by individuals fleeing the extremely oppressive government and laws on Huecar, a member system of the Grand United States of Quesada in Aldebaran Sector. In direct contrast to the conditions they experienced on Huecar, the refugees and their descendants have adopted a policy of "natural justice" and have almost no written laws.

Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.

World Starport (St)

Campinas has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families, including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.
