Garnet is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Asphodel Subsector of Neworld Sector.
- It orbits the system's secondary star.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below standard for Charted Space.
- It is a member of the Seguranca Arc region of the Seguranca Cluster.
- It is a colony of Seguranca
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Garnet is a binary star system.
- The primary is a yellow main sequence.
- The secondary is an orange main sequence.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld, orbiting the secondary star.
- x6 secondary rocky worlds, all orbiting the secondary star.
- x3 planetoid belts, all orbiting the primary star.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Garnet orbits within the prime region of the secondary star's habitable zone.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Garnet is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Garnet has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences generally moderate temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Garnet has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Garnet is a member of the Seguranca Arc, a named region of the Seguranca Cluster, a cluster and important trade route lying across the central-spinward part of Neworld Sector.
Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Solomani State and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, while many see it as an act of duty to help protect the the State and its interests.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Garnet has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Garnet has a population of 100,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Garnet possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion, and the most fundamental atomic energy.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ground cars or automobiles and tracked vehicles.
- Water: Large ships and submersibles with steel hulls.
- Air: Early aircraft including seaplanes and very early unmanned rockets.
World Government (G)[edit]
Garnet has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
This world is a colony of Seguranca.
World Law (L)[edit]
Garnet has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -1 (unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: A (abundant)
- Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
- Efficiency: +1 (average)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 6 (harmonious)
- Acceptance: 4 (extremely aloof)
- Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
- Symbols: 1 (extremely concrete)
World Timeline[edit]
Major events that have affected this world and the wider region that it lies within:
- -9235: far to coreward, the Vilani discover jump drive technology. Over the centuries pioneers and settlers gradually spread across Charted Space.
- -4678: the Hivers discover jump drive technology.
- -4045 to -2204: the Ziru Sirka controls vast territories.
- -2431: Terrans discover jump drive technology.
- -2404 to -2215: the Interstellar Wars. The young Terran Confederation battles against the ancient Vilani Ziru Sirka.
- -2204 to -1776: the Rule of Man administers the former Ziru Sirka.
- -1862 to -1110: the Terran Mercantile Community is active across the region.
- -1776 to 0: the Long Night.
- -1110 to 588: the Terran Mercantile Community gradually becomes the Old Earth Union, shrinking to control the region around Terra.
- The Year 0: to coreward, the Third Imperium is founded.
- 300-420: the Imperial First Survey charts the system.
- 588: the Old Earth Union and the former territories of the Terran Mercantile Community are annexed by the Imperium.
- 604-622: the Imperial Civil War.
- 624: the Imperial Express Boat Network is established.
- 704: the Solomani Autonomous Region is formed.
- 800-820: the Psionics Suppressions.
- 871: the Solomani Confederation is founded.
- 940: the Solomani Autonomous Region is dissolved.
- 990-1002: the Solomani Rim War.
