• As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
• As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import many manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
• It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Gamma Leonis Subsector of Neworld Sector.

• The world serves as the subsector capital with the significant extra trade and prestige associated with that role.
• It has a colony at Talus.

Cuyahoga is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Cuyahoga has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Cuyahoga has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

History & Background (Dossier)

Cuyahoga is the capital of the subsector and the seat of Confederation authority.

Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.

World Starport (St)

Cuyahoga has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

Cuyahoga Alta is a Solstate-standard Class-A high port operated by the Solomani Confederation directly. It is a modern design, finished within the last 30 years.

Cuyahoga Baja was a Solstate-standard Class-A down port, but it has been modified and expanded to allow for a larger amount of direct traffic. The downport is also completely surrounded by a corporate district, which operates as a series of local customs offices. Visitors are obliged to pass thru one corporate or guild region, where they are inevitably questioned regarding their technology access and occasionally made offers to purchase specific examples of their personal technological items. Each corporation/guild then funnels the visitor into a secure consumer area where they are encouraged to make purchases, though there is no actual obligation. Beyond that is a, again corportate/guild controlled, lodging area of various types and prices. Only beyond that sector can a traveller begin to engage with the "wilder" elements of common Cuyahogan culture.

The Traveller Aid Society (TAS) operates hostels both at the high and downports. They apparently have to move occasionally, so travellers will need to look for signage or ask local information sources. The local worldnet can be helpful, if you can get access within the port system. TAS recommends checking in at their hostels on a daily basis.

World Population (P)

Cuyahoga has a population of 40,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

• The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.

The most commonly heard languages are:

• Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.

Cuyahogan subcultures have a colorful patois that takes some acclimatization.

World Technology Level (T)

Cuyahoga possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)

Cuyahoga is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.

There are several guilds/corporations which attempt to throttle and control incoming technologies from out-system sources. The economic guilds themselves typically have access to level C technologies, but the average consumer can only access level A. This imbalance has led to a a society of technological haves and have-nots. Cybernetics are popular and popularized; medical technologies at level C or D are available to safe implantation and upgrades. Combined with a weapons-free law-level, living on Cuyahoga can be a continuous, and often short, adventure.

World Law (L)

Cuyahoga has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.

Cuyahoga law is dominated by the basic ethics of the population, but there are no specific prohibitions on armament. Attempting to use force or threat of force to break basic tradition, barter arrangements, or consumer trade processes will typically result in a community response, which may be well out of proportion to the offense.

Urbanization

Cuyahoga society is geographically centered around the Cuyahoga Baja downport. The corporate zones vary widely in implementation, but act as a buffer between the down port and the larger urban area. The Cuyahogan urban area is one, large urban area made of subcultural blocks that are fiercely defended on multiple levels. This citiscape takes up the entirety of a large peninsula and its local island clusters. As one approaches the mainland, the urban infrastructure thins into an industrial zone, which then morphs into a region of rural "towns".
