System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Yamada orbits within the inner region of its stars habitable zone.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Yamada is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Yamada has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Yamada has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

Yamada is a hot world orbiting an older F-class star. Investigations place the age of the Yamada system at 4 billion years, and it is expected to remain a main-sequence star for a least another billion years. The world retains an atmosphere, despite billions of years of erosion by the powerful stellar wind streaming off of the star, due to its unusually strong magnetic field.

There are 2 large continents, one of which is a combination of two previously separate continents. The planet is geologically active, and the highest mountain ranges are found at the collision line in the large continent. The other mountain ranges vary in height; there are several younger archipelagoes in the ocean.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

  • Most forms of plant life are a deep blue-green color.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Yamada is inhabited by a reclusive, heavily armed militant group with strong religious convictions. All members of society carry a blade of some kind and most have one or more firearms readily available.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Yamada has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

The Yamada downport is a 20-year old design provided by the Solomani Confederation to support initial colonization. It is fully functional, but the administration has initiated a weapons-ban within the port proper, due to the tensions with the current planetary population.

World Population (P)[edit]

Yamada has a population of 1,000 sophonts (thousands).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.
  • The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans, with an ancestry principally drawn from the Japan region of Terra.

Urbanization[edit]

A single sprawling cluster of domes and slender towers, linked by a network of subterranean tunnels, exists near the downport in the high northern latitudes.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly heard languages is:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Yamada possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Yamada is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.

World Law (L)[edit]

Yamada has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
