Maxim is a high-population, pre-rich world with a billion or more sophonts in population size.
- It lacks adequate resources to expand its economy to a rich status.
- Its economy and population are rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to quickly rise barring outside forces.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Subra Subsector of Neworld Sector.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Maxim is a binary star system.
- The primary is a yellow main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.

Notes[edit]
The two stars of the Maxim system have an average separation of 760 AU and orbit a barycenter that lies between them. Although the two stars are gravitationally bound to one another, for all practical purposes they are two separate star systems that happen to share the same hex.
- They have an orbital period around one another of approximately 16,700 standard years.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld, orbiting the primary star.
- x7 secondary rocky worlds. Three orbit the primary star, four orbit the secondary star
- x1 planetoid belt, orbiting the secondary star.
- x4 gas giants. All orbit the primary star.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Maxim is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Maxim has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Maxim has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Although it lies within the territory of the Confederation, the world is not officially a member of that state, choosing instead to remain as a technically neutral world. Despite its neutral status, it relies on the Confederation for trade and defense and actively cooperates with Solomani interests.
Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Maxim has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Maxim has a population of 3,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
- The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Maxim possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Maxim is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
World Law (L)[edit]
Maxim has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -1 (descriptor)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 9 (moderate)
- Labor: 8 (hundreds of millions)
- Infrastructure: 4 (very limited)
- Efficiency: -2 (fair)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 6 (harmonious)
- Acceptance: 8 (friendly)
- Strangeness: 6 (very distinct)
- Symbols: 2 (very concrete)
