Description (Specifications)[edit]
The Malorn Union is an interstellar, multi-system government with thirty-eight member systems, located at the point where Aldebaran Sector, Canopus Sector, Hanstone Sector, and Malorn Sector meet.
It is named for a mysterious group known as the Malorni, either a humanoid minor race or a Human chimera race -- opinions differ and the Malorni haven't provided additional information.
Clusters[edit]
Three clusters hold the majority of the worlds that form the Union. They are:
- The Aleutia Run.
- The Elias Group.
- The Malorn Cluster.
Government & Politics (Leadership)[edit]
The government of the Malorn Union is characterized as having an average degree of centralization. It experiences difficulty setting uniform policies that direct the entire multi-system state, but grants a high degree of freedom to local/planetary governments.
- Its government is usually classified as a Union, a form of a Federation.
Goals[edit]
The state's primary goal is preserving trade and economic prosperity for its member worlds.
The Union strives to avoid attention and works to prevent the larger interstellar governments from taking notice of their activities. Conflict on an interstellar scale is to be avoided; as such, it can almost never be worth the effort to intervene in external affairs.
Interstellar Relations[edit]
The polity is relatively insular and is generally considered neutral towards other interstellar states.
Military & Intelligence (Force Projection)[edit]
The armed forces of the Union are considered some of the premier military formations in the sector.
- The Malorn Union Navy is used to secure the states borders.
- The legendary Malorn Union Army is used to defend planetary surfaces.
The Malorn Union has established the strongest on-paper Navy in the sector. However, it remains largely untested in battle, other than a few minor skirmishes against pirates.
The Union's Intelligence Services are active against the machinations of SolSec.
Commercial Data[edit]
The following commercial and economic data is available:
Corporations[edit]
Corporations and organizations known to be active within the Union include:
- Layaefui, an Aslan corporation that specializes in exploration, scouting, and surveying.
- Orion Metallurgy Corporation (OMC), engaged in resource exploration, extraction, and processing throughout the Solomani Sphere.
- Panstellar, a major transport and logistics corporation.
- Transstar, a Solomani megacorporation specializing in transport and logistics. It operates across 13 sectors, represented by the 13 stars in its logo.
Goods[edit]
Notable local commodities include:
- Jharrak, a beverage.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Union trades jump drives and small ships with the other polities in the sector, in exchange for the resources that those polities produce. They are considered to have some of the best ship building capacity in the entire sector.
Dade (UWP A-388000-E) is a Production World and the hub of the Union's strength. It has massive storage areas, huge assembly plants and extensive manufacturing facilities, all highly automated and operated using robots. The world has no permanent population, though hundreds of thousands of staff are resident on the world for months at a time while they complete a work shift. The world produces large amounts of starships, jump drive units, vehicles, and a huge range of other high technology items.
Solomani Security keeps a close eye on activities and events within the polity -- and particularly the world of Dade -- to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Its population are uniformly less likely to be cooperative with Solomani interests than Confederation citizens, but almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information.
- SolSec actively competes against Malorn Union intelligence agencies.
Symbols[edit]
The symbol of the Union is a traditional Malorni glyph representing strength through fellowship.
Demographics[edit]
Significant populations of the following races (sophont species) reside within this area:
Humaniti (Human races)[edit]
- Solomani (Major Race): Widely spread across the region.
- Mixed or other heritage: Occasionally encountered across the region.
Non-Human Races[edit]
- Malorn Aslan (Major Race): Occasionally encountered across the region.
- Malorni of a currently unknown homeworld in Malorn Sector (Minor Race): A mysterious, physically tall humanoid race.
- Some believe the Malorni may actually be a Human Chimera.
- Valkyrie of an unknown homeworld (Minor Race): A parasitic species that "infect" other sophonts and take over their bodies.
- Suspected outbreaks have occurred in some of the Union's systems, though exact numbers remain unclear.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Native Malorni languages.
- Malorn Trokh, a dialect of the principal language of the Aslan Hierate
- Minor Aslan Languages: Note that some Aslan Clans retain obscure or archaic languages for personal use in addition to Trokh.
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Solomani Confederation.

Capital[edit]
The capital of the Union is:
- Spector, a technologically advanced moderate population world. It is known locally as Malorn. Many believe it to be the homeworld of the Malorni, but this remains uncertain.
World Listing[edit]
Comprehensive Second Survey data for many of the worlds that are members of the Malorn Union is available.
- The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
- Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
- Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:

Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, may already be out of date.
- Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.
