Liberti is a low-population fluid world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts.
- A fluid world has an oceanic geography consisting of heavily contaminated water or a substance such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquid.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Barrens Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.
- This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Liberti has a solitary primary star.
- It is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x6 secondary rocky worlds.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Liberti is tidally locked to its primary star.
- The star is always high in the sky on the bright face, it hangs on horizon in the twilight zone, while the cold dark face is in permanent darkness.
- The world experiences libration - a regular wobble - as it orbits, causing the star to move in the sky.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Liberti is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Liberti has an Insidious Atmosphere which requires the use of a Hostile Environment Suit or Vacc Suit, but extreme conditions cause the corrosive effects to defeat any personal protective measures in a few hours. TL–10 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- The extremely dense carbon dioxide-based atmosphere contains significant traces of sulfur compounds, including ionized sulfuric acid.
- Temperatures within the narrow twilight zone are high. They reach as much as 750°C on the bright face, while on the dark face temperatures fall to below freezing.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Liberti has 25-35% of its surface covered by a fluid other than water. Wilderness refueling is not possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds may be Hell Worlds.
- This surface fluid may be ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids depending on the local temperature and environment.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
There are chemical seas dotted across the world and small lakes of molten lead can be found at the extreme starward point of the bright face. A single long, winding mountain range has peaks that reach above 20 km in height, with the summits projecting through the permanent layers of cloud that cover the world.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Liberti is home to a small privately funded scientific community studying local atmospheric conditions and mineral resources. The group are xenophobic and insular, avoiding contact with outsiders as far as possible.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Liberti has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
Welcome to Liberti Highport, one of the few Class C highports, and largely automated. It is arguably better than a standard Class-C downport, with upgraded cleaning bots, and better overall systems engineering. Accommodations are the same as a Class-B starport.
Shuttles to Liberti Station are available if permission to land is granted.
World Population (P)[edit]
Liberti has a population of 40 sophonts (tens).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without significant outside assistance. This may represent a transient population such as the crew of a starship, the final survivors of a dying colony, an advance team setting up to receive colonists, or a small outpost where establishing a colony is not the primary objective.
- The population almost entirely consists of humans of Solomani descent.
Urbanization[edit]
A reinforced science station has been constructed at the upper reaches of Mount Asmodeon. It is designed to be resilient to the insidious atmosphere. Several research craft are stationed here including antigrav observatories, 2 upgraded SDCs, and 2 deep exploration craft.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Liberti possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Liberti has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
World Law (L)[edit]
Liberti has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -1 (unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 8 (moderate)
- Labor: 0 (none available)
- Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
- Efficiency: -3 (poor)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 1 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 1 (extremely xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 9 (extremely confusing)
- Symbols: B (abstract)
Scout Notes[edit]
Scout notes: "Xenophobic bunch in the sense that they believe they are sitting on some sort of academic gold mine. I am fairly certain that some of the research staff are indulging in stronger forms of pharmaceutical intellectual enhancement. They are extremely guarded with answers of any sort, and carried weapons in my presence with little regard to either safeties or trigger discipline. I think I was a finger-twitch away from death a couple of times at least."
