Lebannon is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Wovoka Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.
- This world has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships.
- This world has a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Lebannon is a binary star system.
- The primary is an orange main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x12 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Lebannon is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Lebannon has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences relatively high temperatures.
- The atmosphere is tainted by a significant percentage of carbon dioxide.
- Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere push up the world's surface temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Lebannon has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
The world displays high levels of tectonic activity, with frequent groundquakes and significant vulcanism. The taint and atmospheric dust can yield brilliant sunsets.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Lebannon is a member of the Wovoka Arch, a minor cluster and trade route lying in the coreward-trailing quadrant of Aldebaran Sector. It is named for its distinctive curved shape on astrographic charts.
The Lebannese government is an extension of the Solomani corporation Defensus, which has been granted a business license to develop the mainworld for the purpose of supplying the Solomani military needed supplies and materiel. The title President of Lebannon refers to that person's corporate rank. The President reports to the Defensus CEO and corporate board, and is accountable to the Solomani military.
Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Solomani State and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, while many see it as an act of duty to help protect the the State and its interests.
Large-scale agriculture, aided by the carbon dioxide concentrations, is the primary industry.
Food stuffs.
Imports of fertilizers from Albarino.
World Culture[edit]
Most colonists are Solomani from regional high-population worlds. Many are ex-military who have been deeded a land-grant and company shares.
Education levels tend to be high. While the work is often "earthy", most of it is automated, including the maintenance bays. Life is relatively good, though young adults often look to travel off-world.
Urbanization[edit]
Most of the major urban centers are around Lake Leban. Smaller agricultural "villages" extend from the Lake in a web of access ways and canals.
