Dalsam is a pre-agricultural and nonindustrial world lacking adequate development for its economy to become prosperous.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Ten Suns Subsector of Massilia Sector in the Domain of Sylea.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- This world has an Imperial Scout base, capable of handling IISS starships and personnel.
- It lies within the Oasis Cluster region of the Rhamsteppe-Mongrebi Main.
- At the founding of the Imperium this world was known as Gupum Kha.
- This world has undergone extensive Terraforming.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Dalsam has a solitary primary star.
- It is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x8 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld has been terraformed.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Dalsam is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Dalsam has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Dalsam has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Dalsam has undergone extensive Terraforming, converting the previously corrosive atmosphere to a semi-breathable nitrogen-oxygen mix, establishing substantial surface seas and a generally temperate climate, and introducing multiple lifeforms in order to create a stable, self-maintaining, planet-wide ecosystem.
It lies within the Oasis Cluster region of the Rhamsteppe-Mongrebi Main, a part of the Main that lies across the border between Massilia Sector and Zarushagar Sector.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Dalsam has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Dalsam has a population of 90,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Dalsam possesses a Technology Level of TL–14 or TL-E in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early meson communicators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, early collectors, and advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-5.
World Government (G)[edit]
Dalsam is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
World Law (L)[edit]
Dalsam has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Dalsam, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the estate of a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversees affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial baronet.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 1 (descriptor)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: A (abundant)
- Labor: 3 (thousands)
- Infrastructure: 4 (very limited)
- Efficiency: +1 (average)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 3 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 5 (very aloof)
- Strangeness: 4 (somewhat distinct)
- Symbols: D (very abstract)
World Timeline[edit]
Major events that have affected this world and the wider region that it lies within:
- circa -250,000: the Ancients are active within the sector.
- -9235: the Vilani discover jump drive technology. Over the centuries pioneers and settlers gradually spread across Charted Space.
- -5400 to -4015: the Vilani Consolidation Wars.
- -4045 to -2204: the Ziru Sirka claims and settles worlds across the region.
- -2404 to -2215: the Interstellar Wars.
- -2204 to -1776: the Rule of Man administers the worlds of the region.
- -1776 to 0: the Long Night.
- The Year 0: the Third Imperium is founded.
- 300-420: the Imperial First Survey charts the system.
- 604-622: the Civil War.
- 624: the Express Boat Network is established.
- 800-820: the Psionics Suppressions.
- 995-1065: the Imperial Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published. Information about the system becomes widely available.
