The Clii Argu class Common Transport is a TL–15 Common Transport. It is also known as the Type TC-class Common Transport.
Description[edit]
It is a vessel with 1-G and J-3 performance with a streamlined cylinder hull. It is used by the Imperial Navy, megacorporations, the merchant marine, sector navies, world-states, and a wide variety of other users. It uses modular ship technology. It carries medium armament and a quality defensive suite. It operates with 120 crew.
The design consists of a 10,000 ton engineering section, containing the bridge, engineering spaces, fuel for the jump drive, crew space and a mounting point for the cargo modules. The jump drive in the engineering section is capable of Jump-6 without any modules attached.
Each module is a 10,000 ton cylinder. The default module is a single cavernous cargo hold designed to hold 9800 tons of containerized cargo. There is a passenger module, capable of carrying 2000 passengers in relative comfort.
With one module attached, the most common configuration, the ship has a Jump-3 performance. With two modules attached, the ship has a jump-2 performance. And with three modules attached, the ship has a jump-1 performance. These latter configurations are uncommon partly because of the limited performance of the maneuver drive.

Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary. History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Despite the Clii Argu class Common Transport's creaky structure, it is quite popular among crews and has generous crew staterooms, a quality mess, and is considered one of the safer and more comfortable rides around for the members of the Trader's Guild. [3]
Class Naming Practice/s & Peculiarities[edit]
Vessel Peculiarities: The vessel has a strange and spooky tendency to creak while in jumpspace. This makes many crews quite jumpy. No amount of re-engineering, grav plates, or structural dampering has ever eliminated this quirk. Some more superstitious crew refuse to serve on a vessel of this class because of it, even though repeated studies have shown that there is no correlation between the creaking and equipment failure. [4]
Class Naming Practice/s: The Argu is a famed plant-like organism from Vland and thus was this vessel named. The Clii quality of argu is the highest quality and Terrans often noted how often Vilani crew quickly signed up to transport the stuff and skimmed a little off the top. Argu can be used in a variety of ways, eaten, used as a seasoning, smoked, used as incense, etc. Terrans often joked that it was like spam and eggs. Clii Argu's tend to be named after valued foodstuffs following this tradition. [5]
