Subsector P of Numbis Sector, a place where the Hivers interface with their neighbours.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

"Torrent" is a translation suggesting the fast-paced mercantile environment in this busy frontier sector. The Hive Federation, Krotan Primacy, Lithkind, nomadic Lishun Suugugki, and even K'kree merchants out of the Two Thousand Worlds are active here, and several systems are politically neutral, prospering from interaction with all.

In adition, there are three minor races native to the subsector. Two are part of the Hive Federation -- both low-population cultures engulfed completely by Hive cosmopolitan culture, and both administered from Zoru (Numbis 2737). The third are the Lalendri, who wound up on the K'kree side of the borders when the Hiver-K'kree War concluded.

The subsector is vibrant and diverse, but there is also some degree of tension, as K'kree space comes as close as it ever does to Hiver borders, and presses up against the Sha Elden Lith Kindriu.

Torrent, subsector P of Numbis Sector, contains 42 worlds with an estimated population of 36 billion, a per capita income of Cr7,337, and a total economy is BCr265,322. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr93 through 35 starports (6 Class A, 11 Class B, 13 Class C, 5 Class D) employing 26,610 people. Driving this interstellar trade are seven Agricultural (Ag) worlds, three Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, three Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, six Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, two Rich (Ri) worlds, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in Torrent maintain four Naval bases, two Scout bases, and one Military base. The average technology level is 7 (with most between 5 and 10). The highest technology level is 12 at Yihsald (Numbis 2533), Nggander (Numbis 2734), Nondip (Numbis 2834), and Itanos (Numbis 3039).

Torrent, subsector P of Numbis Sector, contains 65 stars and no identified planets; 21 monostellar systems, 19 binary systems, two trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 33 of the 42 systems (78%) have native gas giants. There are one Asteroid (As) belt, two Desert (De) worlds, five Garden (Ga) worlds, one Ice-capped (Ic) world, six Poor (Po) worlds, three Vacuum (Va) worlds, and three Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Torrent has an estimated population of 36 billion distributed across two High population (Hi) worlds, five Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 19 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, 11 Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Itanos (Numbis 3039). The population consists of 5 sophont groups including three native sophonts.
