Phoniwt is a poor, high-population, non-agricultural world with a billion or more sophonts.
- It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- This planet has few promising economic prospects. Some hope to start a nascent industrial sector, but it hasn't come to fruition yet.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Outworld Subsector of Ley Sector.
- It is a mainworld which is a satellite of either a gas giant or another world.
- This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
- This world has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships.
- This world has a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces.
Description / Astrography & Planetology[edit]
This world is part of the namesake Phoniwt Cluster.
Stellar Data[edit]
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld, a natural satellite of a gas giant.
- x8 secondary rocky worlds.
- x4 gas giants, including Kaske Huul.
- x1 planetoid belt.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Phoniwt orbits the gas giant Kaske Huul at the very edge of the system's life zone.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Phoniwt is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Phoniwt has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Phoniwt has 05-15% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.
Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]
Most of Phoniwt's surface water is frozen into spectacular glaciers near the poles. The rest of the planet is chilly desert.
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)

History & Background / Dossier[edit]
This important world has been the centre of its own trade alliance, a colony of the Sydymic Empire, and most recently an independent world enabling exchange between Ley Sector and Gateway Sector. Phoniwt has cordial relations with many of its neighbors and exerts considerable economic influence, but doesn't pursue formal political power. Phoniwt maintains trade links through the world of Far Portal in Gateway Sector to the Galian Federation.
World Starport[edit]
Phoniwt has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- There is an associated Naval Base.
World Population (P)[edit]
Phoniwt has a population of 60,000,000,000 sophonts (tens of billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
World Technology Level[edit]
Phoniwt possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-2.
World Government[edit]
Phoniwt is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.
Phoniwt society is over-bureaucratized and beset by internal politics, but despite this the world remains an important trade and industrial centre.
